I put my foot down!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive November 2004: I put my foot down!
By Mrse on Saturday, November 13, 2004 - 07:11 pm:

My dd who has an N driver's licience, has been giving dh's uncles a ride to town and back when they need to go. When dd started giving them rides I told them no open liquor in the car. I also told them that if I ever find out that they did, that that will be the end of their rides. So the other day, they had to do it, dd told them not to , but they used the excuse that it was on a country road etc.. dd came home and told me they refused to throw it out, so I called them and blasted them big time and told them that was the last time they were ever going to get a ride with her. I told them she only has an N drivers licience, and that they would take away her licience, and dd is starting college on Monday and if she lost her licience then she would not be able to go. In their minds they think it is like the old days when they just give a fine, I told them it was not that easy. What makes me really mad is where she was taking them was about 6 min down the road, and they could not wait 6 min. dh was trying to get me to calm down , and when I called them not to scream at them, I told him I had already warned them from the start, and they ignored what I said so too bad.

what is an "N" license?

By My2cuties on Saturday, November 13, 2004 - 09:28 pm:

Is that kind of like a permit here in the USA? Anyway, way to go, they do not need to take advantage of your DD like that anyway, and the rule for most people is "My car, my rules" and they did not even respect that, so you are right, Too Bad for them. :)

I agree - your car, your rules. You warned them and they chose to ignore the warning, even after your daughter spoke to them about it, so now they can turn a six minute ride into a 30 minute walk the next time they want to get some booze. I would have screamed too, if it were my child. Congratuations to your daughter for wanting to follow the rules, for telling them, and for telling you - that took some courage, given that she was ratting out her dad's uncles.
