Tell me it's just my luck...... right! :(

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive October 2004: Tell me it's just my luck...... right! :(

... Tell me it's just my luck that the dog we bought from the shelter over a month ago WON'T go to the bathroom outside when it's raining! And tell me that it's just my luck to find a huge pee spot and 3 poop spots on my carpet in the living room, especially when the carpet was just professionally cleaned less than a week ago!

I mean, I LOVE the rain but come on dog, give me a edited by moderator break! Grrrrrr.........

I have to stand in the rain with my dog. She won't budge outside if it is wet. I force her out and then I just stand there getting wet until she FINALLY does what is needed.

Not to scare you but to reinforce how important it is to brake the dog of this, we moved into our house in May. The previous owner allowed the dog to pee at will all over the living room carpet. We had the carpets professionally cleaned, and I go over them at least every other week because it just keeps bleeding up through the pad. When our taxes get back that is what we are doing w/ the $, replacing the carpets because it is a losing battle. I have tried all the products on the market and at least have gotten the smell mostly resolved but the stains *just keep coming back* Yuck. The only bright spot is that our elderly golden retreiver has not felt the need to remark the living room.

Melissa, I was so happy when it started raining, I love the rain too especially here in the valley! My chihuahua is freezing in the rain but he will go out for a minute and do his thing. Sorry about your luck.

My son's 100# Rottweiler doesn't like the rain either - I can't wait to see how she reacts to snow (NOT!). Fortunately, the place where I am working now gave me, as part of a welcoming gift, a really huge umbrella which was their "small holiday gift" to clients last year. This is a really, really huge golf-type umbrella, but with wind breaks in it so that if the wind is blowing it doesn't turn inside out. It's big enough to cover him and the dog.

Melissa, Implied words are not allowed. Using symbols to replace letters is implying the word. Using other slang terms to replace a vulgar word is also implying the word. Please read Pam's post on vulgarity and take note that only because we want to make sure that Pam's post is seen before we start taking action this thread was left on the list. Unfortunately, we won't be editing post with implied vulgarity in a few days, the plan is to remove them from the board. By the way, when we start taking action there won't be any reply to the reasons behind the removal as we have been doing this week in particular.. We have had numerous complaints about the vulgarity that has become common practice on the board. We need the members to start policing themselves as to what is acceptable in a public/private forum.

This is not a personal attack, it is an action that we as moderators are required to take as it is a clearly stated in the posting guide lines that vulgarity will not be tolerated. We know you meant no harm in your thread but we have to enforce the rules. Because today it is this type of post and tomorrow it is a whole slew of curse words strung together in a vent by another member because after all we let you slide on the rules, so why are we going after her? I know you may see this as little but in actuality this can lead to melt down threads like we all have been seeing a lot of lately. The whole, the moderators are out to get me mentality. But for the board to run smoothly we have to play the heavy and make decisions that will not please all the people all the time and our only hope is that in the end our reasoning will be understood. For some reason we have been having a lot of issues lately with unhappy members. But it is our experience that this goes in waves and as the saying goes this two shall pass. But in weeks like we have been having lately we have to stay on top of things. Because like I said if one is let to slide then we get bombarded with the but you let so and so comments and the rules get stretched to the point that things are out of control. We (the staff) might seem like we are out in left field but we have been at this for a long time. Trust me when I say, we are only doing what is best for the integrity of the board and this is by no means personal.

By the way, both my dogs hate the rain and I have a similar issues with the messes they make on the floor. I have to make them go out and watch that they go. IF they don't go I have to go out and stand until they do. But they still make messes none the less. No suggestions...

I'm sorry Bobbie, the word I just was suppose to be seen as the shorter form of freaking, not *the other* word but thats fine. I just didnt want anyone to thinking I was willingly using the *other* word. :)
