Ok, so I don't know if I told ya'll this yet or not. One of the other SSgts that works with my dh got assigned to the Netherlands. Before they left they borrowed my vacume cleaner. Well....when they brought it back they gave me all their extra cleaning supplies and misc stuff that they had left at their house, wasn't that nice of them :). He brought in some cat litter and cat food too, I thought cool, I'm running a little low on both so thats great. Then he brought in a cat carrier with 2 cats and proceeded to tell me this sad story about how they just found out that day that they didn't have the right paperwork, etc. so the cats can't go with them and his wife is devistated. They don't know anyone that can take them, bla bla bla. So pretty much they left and the cats are still here. They are spayed, declawed, microchipped and up to date on all their shots. I have been trying to find them a home but with no luck. So here is the problem. As I'm sure most of you are aware, I don't like animals. I am not, never have been an animal person. We already had one cat and despite that fact that she is annoying and is an animal I have grown quite fond of her. So I'm getting better I guess. Anyways. Tinkerbell is adjusting great and her and Lilo are starting to even get along and play togeather. Baby on the other hand lives under my bed and I'm not sure if she ever comes out to eat or use the bathroom. We have never seen her except when she was let out of the cage, over 2 weeks ago. I know she is alive and under my bed because I can see her eyes. Is she going to live under my bed forever? Do you think she comes out in the middle of the night when we are all asleep or when we aren't home? How is she still alive if she is not coming out? How do I make my house not smell like a cat farm? I clean the litter box out constantly. If you made it this far, thank you for listening to me ramble.

Ok So I just spent the last hour looking for one of the darn cats, baby...the one that likes to hide. I was scared she crawled in a corner somewhere and died. I looked everywhere probably 3-4 times. Anyone guess where I found her? Somehow she managed so make a whole in the bottom of the boxspring in the spare bedroom. She was hiding out in the frame of the boxspring. I noticed a lump in material so I made a little whole where I could see and there she was. Darn cat!

I don't have any advice on when your new cat will adjust, but I am sure that she is getting out while you aren't home or are asleep. Good luck and I hope you find a nice home for the kitties!

We had a small 6 month old cat and decided to get her a friend, a full grown Himalayan. Hummer, the new one disappeared the first day and we found her 3 days later in the top shelf of a kitchen cupboard. She spent the first 3 months there! Dh said he saw her in the middle of the night come out for food and to explore. She and the other cat tolerate each other now but Hummer still doesn't cuddle up with Porsche or any of the people in the house.

I LOVE animals including cats! Anyway, I'm sure she comes out when you guys are away or at night. From my experience she will not just hide away and die. She sounds like a very shy kitty, so you may not see much of her even when she gets adjusted. She may just come out for a bite and a drink and go hide. And yes, boxsprings are a very common hiding place for cats! My cats anyway! You are so kind for sharing your home with these kitties :)
