What would you do?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive October 2004: What would you do?
By Annie2 on Friday, October 8, 2004 - 07:56 pm:

As most of you know, I was scheduled to attend a three week, everynight of the work week for 4 hours plus SAturday classes for real estate. It was postponed due to H Ivan. I went to their office two weeks ago, got the number of the secretary, called her. She told me the class has not been rescheduled due to the fact that the other class hasn't finished yet. She said she would call me to let me know when the next session would start. I haven't heard from her and had even planned on calling the office first thing monday am to find out more information. BUT...
Tonight at 6:10, the classes start at 6:00, I am 1/2 hour away, I was just leaving my son's TaeKwonDo testing (he passed to yellow belt...yeah!) the instructor called me and asked if I was planning on attending the class. I told him I had not been notified. He said I could attend tomorrow's class at 1:00 until 7:00, for chapters 3/4. Which means I would miss the first night, have to read 4 chapters tomorrow am while the kids are flying off the walls from being out of school for so long. They start again on Monday. Or he thinks the next class will start Oct. 27th.

I am planning on attending the next session of classes. My mind just isn't ready to begin my new career with this kind of start. Of course my dh was in the car and said "Go ahead and start tomorrow". Then when we got home he went off by himself to Walmart leaving me to fix dinner for the kids. I just don't feel like I have my ducks in a row. I know I may be procrastinating.

What would you do?

The instructor just called me back. I told him I couldn't start the class on such short notice, that I was disappointed I wasn't reached but will look forward to starting the class later in the month. I told him I would call the office on Monday to schedule my seat and ask for a schedule be mailed to me. He was fine with it, of course, and looks forward to meeting me alter in the month. He also told this class ENDS the 27th of Oct. The new one will start the 28th or 29th. :)

I made the right decision but will post this anyway. i also typed this very fast. i hope it makes sense. :)

Made sense to me. Waiting for the next class seems the best thing to do. It's what I would have done, too.

I'm envious of you taking real estate classes. I always thought it would be something I liked but as a single mom I couldn't handle the schedule - everyone wants to look at houses on the weekends and I couldn't figure that childcare problem out.

I'd wait and start the next session at the end of the month. If it were me, I'd feel like I was starting out playing catch up by starting tomorrow, but that's just *me*. I'd be a little upset that I wasn't notified and that they just assumed you'd be there without contacting you. If I were you, I'd make a few phone calls between now and the 28th just to make sure they are really starting the next class then.
