Need costume ideas....

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive October 2004: Need costume ideas....
By Palmbchprincess on Friday, October 8, 2004 - 03:37 pm:

Ok, this is a 2 part thing... I need ideas for the kids, I would like to do something matching since they're twins. I did Bugs and Tweety for their first halloween, and Beauty and the Beast last year. We were thinking Dora and Boots, since that is their favorite show, but I'm having trouble finding affordable costumes. SpongeBob and Dora is another idea, I could make those easily. Any suggestions?
The other thing is I need one. Nate's company party is costumed, and it's a big event. His is risque', and the whole party is going to be pretty adult, so I'm looking for something funny and sort of adult oriented. I'm open to suggestions. I haven't talked to any of his female co-workers yet, but the bosses make it sound like we're expected to add some shock factor. (obviously not too much, I see these people often!!) TIA!!!

I saw a funny costume idea in a magazine. It's kind of dorky, but funny.

Cut the front off of a bunch of different cereal boxes. String them all together and wear them around your neck. Make large knife out of tin foil and plastic.

*The Ultimate Cereal Killer* LOL

Maybe go as a maid in one of those slightly sexy outfits!

Sounds like it will be a fun party! You'll have to give us details :)

Crystal-When I was looking for a costume for DD, I looked on Lillian Vernon.com and they had some cute adult costumes. Some were very cute and could be sexy.:)

I bet you could make the twins Raggedy Anne and Andy pretty easily. :)

As for you, let me describe to you a costume I saw a couple of years ago. A woman dressed up as a nightstand. She had something circular around her waist and it was draped in a cloth. She had a lampshade on her head, so she was the lamp on the nightstand. I think she was wearing a leotard and fishnet stockings. How does this possibly fit into the adult theme of the party? She called herself the "One Night Stand". LOL. I guarantee no one else will have your costume!

LOL Melanie.....my friends DH is actually going as a one night stand. That is so funny you would mention it. I thought it was a cute idea!

LOL Robin! I thought that was so unique!! LOL, looks like I better take away my guarantee line!

Raggedy Anne and Andy is precious for kiddos. My dh and I are going to be... a prisoner(DH), and a police woman(ME)!!

Crystal,
I was a devil last year, not very creative but pretty suductive..lol I wore a black slip actually and it came above the knee, found a red tight shirt with flames, sewed on a tail, wore black stockings and some high heels, and the red horns with sequences. Put my hair in a french twist and I was on my way. As for the babies,
I know that Disney.com is having a sale on lots of their costumes. Ebay might be a great source, also.

Melanie,
That is too cute. I should keep that in mind in case my dad has a Halloween Party this year.

For the kiddos....I have done tinkerbell and peter pan, wizard of oz is cute, dorothy and the tin man. As for you, one my friends last year went as a publishing clearning house winner, her hubby came in suit and time with a big heck and a dozen balloons. She wore a robe and her hair in curlers...it was cute!

Melanie....I thought it was pretty original too. I figured the had just thought of it on their own. Looks like I was wrong. :)

If there's a Party City store near you, they have a full line of kids and adult costumes. You can always improvise on the adult ones and take them to the limit you are comfortable with.

Thanks everyone... I still haven't decided, but I like the ideas!!!

Party City has great costumes and they have some that would work for your "Adult Party" :)

Crystal, what about making Shane a fireman and Maddie a Dalmatian? Simple costumes and the guys at the station will love it!

By Palmbchprincess on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 - 09:38 pm:

Cori,
I really like that idea... Fireman and Dalmation. Any suggestions for me?? LOL I'll tell you off the boards what Nate is going as... but his is now tentative. He thinks the other employees are taking a pool on what he'll come as, because they have all been trying to get it out of him.
