Good News - Bad News - Mixed Day

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive October 2004: Good News - Bad News - Mixed Day
By Ginny~moderator on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 - 06:56 pm:

I had some paid vacation time coming, so today was my last day with my toxic boss (instead of Friday) and I have two days to get my clothes in order, see if some pants that were too tight fit because I've lost over 15 pounds because of stress, and just SLEEP.

Took my car in and asked for a thorough checkup because I am now driving an hour a day instead of taking the train. Have to wait for a part that was broken that is the reason my right passenger window wasn't working properly, and I have an oil leak from the tubes that go from the engine to the spark plus and need a new timing belt. Oh well - I told them I want the car as safe as it can possibly be for my commuting. So I am without a car until late tomorrow and will really have time at home to sleep and do some useful things.

My coworkers threw a pizza lunch party for me. I will miss all of them (except my toxic boss) and I know they will miss me as a person and friend, not just a coworker. I really regret having to leave them but when you lose 15 pounds and your blood pressure goes up 20 points because of stress, there is no real choice. They all knew what was going on and were supportive and dismayed, but they couldn't stop him any more than his partners could.

I was able to get everything filed, wrote memos on things that are important, and showed the secretary next to me and the office manager everything I thought important, including all my forms on the computer, in my form file drawer, etc. I am leaving with everything done, professionally, and a clear conscience. The only thing I'm not doing is telling anyone where my new job is or a phone number to reach me. I don't want him calling me at work.

Best of luck with your new job!!! You will be so much better off. Your health is more important. I am sure your coworkers will keep in touch.
Get that car in tip top shape when you have a drive like that.
Enjoy a few days off and try and catch up on some R&R.
Once again Best of luck with your job:)

Good luck with the new job, Ginny! I don't blame you, I wouldn't give them my new job number either! Sounds like you've left things in good shape for him, which is more than he deserves, however, professionally speaking, *I* would do the same thing too! Enjoy the next few days, pamper yourself a little, and let us know how the new job is.

Hey Ginny,

Ditto everyone else. You will be healthier and happier for the change!

Hats off to you for leaving things in good order for him, Mr. Toxic! Speaks volumes about yourself, your character! Nothing like being true to yourself.

Best wishes with your new job I am sure we will be hearing from you soon. :)

WTG :) Leaving in a very professional manner is very good of you....considering the situation with your boss.
I hope your new job is wonderful! I'm glad that you are getting your car fixed up so it is super safe for the comute. (ours is leaking oil too....need to get it checked)
Enjoy your days off and relax!! Then you will be fresh and ready to go on Monday morning.

Sorry about all the car repairs, but then I'm glad that you are out of a bad situation. Good luck with your new job!

It sounds like you really need some "You" time before starting the new job! So, it's good that you have the couple of days... and not having your car will make it easier for you to just REST!

Good luck with the new job! No one deserves to put up with what you've gone through.

All I can say is I am truly so very happy for you.
