Looking for a good children's book on...

Deployment. My husband (not official yet) will be deployed sometime between November 9th and December 10th. I need a good book to help my 3 yr old understand. It's going to kill him!! Any ideas on a good book?

I don't think I've seen one. There may not be one specifically for deployments (should be) but there may be some for seperations. Can I ask what kind of support you have? Do you have family near by or close friends to help you out? My dh deployed back in December of '99 until June of '00. We lived in Maryland at the time and I had great friends that helped me with the boys, checked on me often and I even woke one Saturday morning to find two guys out front shoveling my sidewalk and drive (not neighbors!). {{{{{Joelle and Family}}}}} It is hard, but you'll make it. Trust me. We're here for ya.

I don't have many friends (that understand, anyway) and my family is not the type of family that you can turn to in need. The only comment I got from them was "make sure he has good life insurance". But I won't get started on all of that, thats a whole new post!! His family (which are great!!) live in Oklahoma, (far away) I will try to go out there for a visit, but not really sure I can afford it. Other than that, the wives of these men will be meeting once a week. I am really stressing and I thank you for asking about me.

Ohmagosh! I'm sure your family meant well, but what a comment! DO make sure you have a power of attorney for anything you might need while he's gone, though. It's good that the wives will be meeting once a week. Oklahoma is pretty far from GA, but it would be great if you could visit them--or they visit you. I was lucky because dh's family was only about a 4 1/2 hour drive and the kids and I actually went to their house for spring break. My mom was a 12 hour drive so she flew out to see us. :) Please take care of yourself. I ended up stressing so much when my dh left that I got the flu two days after he left. I was SOOOO sick. My kids were 4 and 6 and it was really hard, I wouldn't want to do that with kids your kid's ages. Email me anytime. There are several of us here that have btdt. cathyliz @ bigfoot.com (Without the spaces, of course :) )
