By Marg on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 08:19 am:

Never saw this, but I don't think under any circumstances alcohol should be allowed on any school grounds (public or private). that is mho.

What were they thinking?

By Karen~moderator on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 08:54 am:

I agree with you 100%!

By Rayanne on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 08:56 am:

All that I can say is:
Oh My Goodness(Mouth Wide Open)

By Trina~moderator on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 09:11 am:

I'm laughing (not because I think it's all right, but at the craziness of it), but if it had happened at my school, heads would be rolling! Sheesh!!!

By Kernkate on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 09:47 am:

First time I saw this!! I agree with Marg, there should be no alcohol allowed on the grounds by faculty, administration or anyone else.
IMO the parents should have been called as soon as they realized what had happened. I know I would have wanted to know ASAP if this happened to my kids.

By Amy~moderator on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 10:11 am:

This is just terrible - very irresponsible.

By Lorebunde on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 10:19 am:

I was just thinking what about kids that are on medication, cough syrup, kids with ahdd (or whatever it is called?). Luckily, everyone was ok but I wouldn't of liked that to happen to my child.

By Jelygu on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 10:35 am:

That is ridiculous!

By Mommmie on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 11:04 am:

Whoops!

By Vladasha on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 11:08 am:

My favorite line was about the kids saying it "...didn't taste good. They're young. They'll learn." What kind of comment is THAT!? Not that I haven't enjoyed a margarita in my day, but...

By Karen~moderator on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 11:39 am:

Yea, that line threw me too! Talk about lowering the bar..............

By Audreyj on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 12:40 pm:

I would be furious. But she changed the rules and wrote a very contrite letter. What else could she do? AJ

By Emily7 on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 01:40 pm:

Our schools have a drug free zones & this includes alcohol. I can not believe that this happened!
I remember one time I was outside running, came in & saw orange juice on the table. The orange juice was actually a fuzzy navel...I got half of it drank before my grandma got me to stop drinking. To this day I LOVE fuzzy navels.

Whatever happened to the "ZERO TOLERANCE" Rule?!?!

I wonder if the cafeteria employee that got out the "limeade" still has a job?

WHOOPS!

BIG WHOOPS!

By Kristie on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 10:17 pm:

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!! Did anyone else catch on there that the princapal said it was from a BEFORE school party. So these teachers drink before teaching the students. That definately is bad enough! If my son (who has kidney problems) was given alcohol at school I would explode!! I can't believe that.

By Cat on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 10:34 pm:

I emailed the article to dh and we talked about it when he got home from work. We both would have been livid. He even asked WHY did they just "observe" the kids for over two hours??? I would have wanted a call immediatly and I don't think the letter would have been enough for me. Heads would have to roll. As a parent, if I left an alcoholic drink sitting out and my child drank it, I could be charged with neglect and lose my kids. This was a school and a letter of apoligy was written, was it enough? I don't think so. I also have a son on a couple different medications. What kind of reaction could there have been? Totally unacceptable.

By Conni on Friday, October 1, 2004 - 09:18 am:

Is this really a legit story?? I am having a hard time believing that people at a school could be that ignorant?

By Dawnk777 on Friday, October 1, 2004 - 03:06 pm:

Spiked Limade Served to Kids

I found this article in the Washington Post. Apparently it really happened!

By Karen~moderator on Friday, October 1, 2004 - 04:12 pm:

Conni, we checked it out, it DID apparently happen.

By Emily7 on Friday, October 1, 2004 - 04:47 pm:

Jay Leno mentioned it last night.
