A 6 week update...

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive September 2004: A 6 week update...
By Jackie on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 - 01:46 pm:

Faith is now 6 weeks old.. I cant believe where the time has gone, it all has gone by in such a blur, partly due to her not sleeping through the night.
I wanted to thank all you ladies for your kind words and support during my losses and during my 9 month journey bringing Faith into this world.
Im still in such awe of her..Sometimes as Im rocking her, I sit and kiss her little head and cry for what Ive been through these last 2 yrs before she was here with me..Ive been on a rollercoaster of a journey with miscarriages and then having Faith...I thought there was something wrong with me that I still think about my losses each and everyday.
I talked to the lady who ran the miscarriage support group and told her that. She said that was normal, and having a baby wasnt going to erase my feelings of loss in the past. It made feel better that I wasnt crazy LOL :)
Faith Started smiling about 2 weeks ago, and I swear it melts my heart. When shes awake at 3am and Im groggy and crabby, I look at her smiling at me, and Im not so crabby anymore..
My 10 yr old son is such a help with her, I never imagined he would be. Hes a good boy, but he loves his baby sister so much. He sits with her while I take a shower, he rocks her, he changes her diaper, he walks around the house with her if shes crying...He even lays her on the bed and moves her legs back and forth if he thinks she has gas...Its so heartwarming for me to watch the 2 of them together. My 5 yr old daughter, well shes another story. She loves her baby sister, but is so rough..Shes just a rough kid as it is..Imust watch the 2 of them like a hawk, she doesnt realize her strength..Shes also become twice as demanding as before. It seems she waits until the right moment when Im nursing Faith( I need both hands to do this LOL)and wants me to do something for her..She knows she must wait and it becomes a struggle..its getting a little better but very frustrating.
Believe me when I say I love and cherish all 3 of my children..But unfortunately I took so much for granted with the first 2 kids, the pregnancies and just being babies.. But with Faith its different, my journey to get her was much different, and I will be forever grateful that I was blessed to have her ..
Thanks again for all your support you have shown to me.

What you've said is a reminder to ALL of us to never take anything for granted when it comes to our kids and families.

I'm so happy you have Faith now!

Wow, 6 weeks flew by! I thought it did with my own, too, since at 8 weeks I had to go back to work.

I am truly so happy for you, Jackie. It is sadly true how often we take things/people for granted. Thank you for reminding me to slow down and cherish every moment. (((Jackie)))

Faith is definitely a special baby - I would love to see some new pictures of her soon!
