Laminate flooring question

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive September 2004: Laminate flooring question

For those of you that have installed this yourself, is it difficult? Also, was there a lot of cutting involved? I don't know a lot about it, other than looks. Is it durable? Sorry, lots of questions. LOL TIA

I have always used the laminate tile. I know that a lot of people do not like them, but it is the easiest way to lay a floor.
While managing the apartment building I redid 6 kitchen floors & 8 bathroom floors all with tile. As long as you prepare the floor right it will go smoothly.

We (well, my husband) just installed it a few months ago and he did our whole house by himself. Yes, there is cutting involved when you get to the edges of the floor. If you and/or DH are handy around the house you can easily do it yourself.
I find it to be very durable and easy to clean. We have 2 cats a big dog and 2 children and the floor looks wonderful!

I saw laminate & read linoleum.
My sister & BIL put laminate in their family & dining room in a weekend.

We put wood laminate in our entry and kitchen. It wasn't hard and only took one day for the kitchen and about 1/2 a day for the entry. We bought ours at Sam's Club--GREAT price! I don't know if they still have it. Yes, there was some cutting involved, but if you measure carefully it's not too hard. It's been down for about 6 months or so and it's been very durable. We're really glad we did it. We covered linoleum (a really light color) and it's really warmed the kitchen up. :)

Thanks everyone! We are in the process of peeling off wallpaper in my son's new room. DH was thinking about going ahead and doing the laminate before we paint. I think we're going to go ahead and do the baby's room also. The rest of the rooms we will do over the course of the next few months. Thanks again!

I think you will love it! I do, and as others said it isn't difficult to do at all. I find I'm sweeping often but that's o.k. I would rather do that than have it hide in my carpet. :)
