Heel Spurs???

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive September 2004: Heel Spurs???
By Kernkate on Friday, September 17, 2004 - 11:49 am:

Anyone ever had these?? I have been having terrible pains in my heel for about the past 2 months and finally went to the doctor yesterday. She said she believes it heel spurs. I am on my way out for xrays.
Just wondering if anyone else has ever dealt with these???
TIA:)

Yes my doctor said it was commen I have a hard time believing that, I was in so much pain I could not walk unasisted, for a couple of min, I was hanging onto the dressers and the pain oh my it was terrible, but the more I walked it would go away. This happened for several months but the pain was tremendous. Let us know what the exray'ws say ok? Try soaking your feet in a foot bath might help.

Kernkate,

I totally have dealt with them on and off for about 8 years! Ask away, I'll help you. Email me if you'd like (can I post my email here? I'll try and see what happens! LOL! sunflowerlover @ hotmail. com)

I've had shots in both of my heels b/c the pain has been so bad -- but -- over the last 8 years I've only had 4 shots, so it's sporadic.

Ice and elevate, fall in love with New Balance shoes (800 or 1000 series), wear you tennis shoes as much as you can (with plastic (cheapy) heel cups and have the Dr. give you inserts for you shoes ($40).

I think skimming is when the computer spiders go out searching for email addresses to use for spam.

I had heel pain that ended up being plantar fasciitis. It was an inflammatory thing and it would hurt really bad after I sat for a while and then got up to walk somewhere.

He gave me some heel inserts to put in my shoes. I wear them in my work shoes, since the heel part is almost too deep for my feet and did bother my Achille's tendon and I wonder if that's why I got the fasciitis in the first place. Anyway, the heel inserts help my feet to sit higher in the shoe and the fasciitis eventually went away.

Which reminds me. These shoes are over 2 years old now and really need to be replaced! LOL!

Well my doctor just called and infact I have a large heel spur. So now I have to make an appt. with my foot doctor. Its never ending!

Kernkate...I think I might have these as well. What do they do for them? I just took some anti-inflamatory to see if that helps. My left heel is awful today.

kernkate,

You'll be so happy that you went to a Podiatrist (or at least I was). I rarely have problems and I can feel it coming and now know how to handle it.

Hang in there, relief is coming. I'd tell the Dr. how much pain your in and see if they can see you the same day (mine does).

By Feona on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 - 07:01 am:

I had these. But I never had a x-ray. I couldn't put my foot in anything but a slip on shoe. Do you have that? The podiatist gave me an ortho... 0 what you ma call it... for my shoe.

I started swimming more.... It might have been a pinched nerve acting like a heel spur... It went away evenually. I think it was actually a misdiagnosed pinched nerve. Like sciatica...
