Do you have a winner's store?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive September 2004: Do you have a winner's store?

We just got one, and we went to the grand opening tonight, the very first thing I looked at was a sweater and it said 263.48 I think I looked at the before price. I almost had a coranary, when I thought that was the real price. We just looked around a bit, don't understand why they don't have all of the clothes that are the same on the same rack, I would think they would make more sales that way. The dresses seemed to be very good priced. I have been told they have very good priced for bran name items. The discounts on the tag, seems to be really good. what is your impression of the store if you have one?

I don't think we have one, I've never heard of it before. Can you explain more about the store?

Never heard of it.

I loooove Winners. The reason they don't have the same clothes on the same rack I think is in part because they get such a great variety. they're not buying complete lines of clothes like other stores but overstock, last seasons stuff, remainders and so they get odd quantities. They also sort by size, not by each kind of shirt so you don't sort through one rack of pink tees looking for a size 14, you go to the size 14 section and sort through the different shirts.
You'll get designer labels there, really nice stuff, for very little. I mostly buy kids stuff - toys and books. I still kick myself for passing up some beautiful wooden castle block for $19.99. A month later I saw the same toy for $40 in a toy store. They often have those expensive Thomas the Tank Engine train sets for relatively little.
Are you in Canada Mrse? I think it may be just a Canadian chain.

Yes I am in Canada, vancouver island. Thanks for the tips, I had just walked in, and could not figure it out, I was kind of taken back with the price of the first outfit, so I was kind of scared to look at anymore lol. I had dh with me last night so it was kind of a rush thing, he just stares at you and say's you done? when you have only been in the store 5 min. I think I will go again, when dh is not with me, and when the big rush slows down, it was packed for opening day. I am not one for crowds, I get dizzy with all the people.

Mrse....I grew up in Victoria(James Bay). I miss it so much,

We have Winners here too(in Calgary). I love it so much. Ours has a lot of good decorating items too. We bought a really big fake stone Balinese head. It looks so cool in our entrance way and only cost about $30. People think it is real stone.

I don't have a lot of patience looking at the clothes. I hate clothes shopping at the best of times-but you can get some really good deals.
