Safe and Sound after Hurricane Francis.......

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive September 2004: Safe and Sound after Hurricane Francis.......
By Dana on Thursday, September 9, 2004 - 11:22 pm:

Tonight is our first time with power (THURSDAY!) We lost power Sat evening.

Besides the power and loosing our cold foods, no other damage. Mildew is forming in the house due to humidity and no AC.

No large trees down and no large limbs came down. Only small limbs and tons of leaves. No flooding in our area at all.

I've been staying at my mom's house the entire time. She only lost power for a few hours on Sunday as the storm was leaving our area.

Boy, that was a LONG LASTING storm. Uneventful in our area, but LONG!

Just wanted to let you know we are all fine and healthy.

I was wondering about you Dana since you hadn't posted on the get fit board..Is Ivan coming your way?

By Imamommyx4 on Thursday, September 9, 2004 - 11:47 pm:

My prayers are with you. I live in Tennessee but have been watching the hurricanes closely. We have family and friends in Florida, east coast of Georgia, southern Georgia and Louisiana. My prayer is that Ivan just fizzles out in the middle of the Gulf leaving everybody else alone. God has done lesser miracles.

Dana, Glad to hear all is well. I would go crazy not having power for that long. I hope Ivan takes a different path but it doesn't look that it will.
Stay Safe.

Thank you all. I am praying that Ivan just goes away too. I would hate to see others get hit, and to "just fizzle out in the Gulf" is a brillant plan, Mommy4x.

I don't think I will stay here if Ivan comes towards Tampa. If it remains off the coast, that doesn't bother me, but the turn west is so scary. DH won't leave, so I guess I will have to leave without him. I hate that thought as much as I hate the hurricane coming. Praying I don't have to make a choice.

Dana, DH wants to know how the cruise terminal in Tampa would fair if Ivan were to hit?? LOL

I can't believe you were without power that long. UGH!

Stay on top of the mildew problem - it can cause serious health problems.

Dana,Glad your power is back on.My Sister (from Tampa) flew home yesterday.
I called her this morning and she and her boyfriend are getting some plywood to prepare for Ivan.
I can`t believe how many hurricanes you have had!

I read in the paper that it is because of the temp.of the ocean,it`s a little warmer than usual.
My sister and her boyfriend are not leaving either.
Stay safe, and like the others said ,I hope Ivan just fizzle`s out and disappears.

Karen, I have no clue. I do know they emptied the Port of Tampa of all ships for both previous hurricanes. Downtown Tampa flooded w/ Frances. But it receded quicker than the rivers in FL.
