Suggestions needed for a business name.

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive September 2004: Suggestions needed for a business name.
By Tklinreston on Thursday, September 9, 2004 - 01:41 pm:

I have a friend who is interested in creating a new business. A cafe/bistro/sit down restaurant with a quiet & relaxing atmosphere where moms can go together to chit chat and relax. There will be a separate play area for the kids, toys, books, arts and craft, much like a daycare center. Great for playgroups etc. The main draw is for the moms to have their own time to relax with their friends or significant others while the kids are having fun too. Our friends can not think of a good catchy name for such a place and neither can I. SOOO, I thought I would put it out here on MomsView because I can't think of any other group of people who are more creative than here. Any ideas?

The basket case.............and fill it with baskets...........

I like Time out and Basket Case.

So who watches the kids while the parents are relaxing? I think we all know there are some pretty wild children out there and there are some I would never want to lock my children in a playarea with simply out of fear that they out of control child would hurt them. :)

A neat idea would be to put the kids area in a circle in the middle, surrounded by a low wall/ bench set. Maybe even have benches facing inward and outward to form the wall. That way mom's can stay close by while the kids play. One of my biggest issues with hanging out at mcd is there just isn't enough seating. My name suggestion Bytes and Peaces, and you could have a computer set up type thing, or bits and peaces.

I was thinking the same thing Andi. This sentence "restaurant with a quiet & relaxing atmosphere" kind of made me chuckle when it involves a group of kids. LOL I am not picking at the idea, I think it is a GREAT idea. I just think it sounded funny. I love the idea of the kids being in the center of the room with the parents all around. That way, everyone can see everything!! I don't have a suggestion for the name, but you have gotten great ones!! Please let us know how this business goes. I think it is a great idea that could take off!!

Wow... you ladies sure are creative. I thought of the Thyme (or Time) Out Cafe too. I think it's great name and it would probably catch mom's attention since you equate "time out" with kids. The only thing was I wondered if it would be confusing to the kids since "time out" for them is a punishment and going to the cafe would be fun and rewarding. I guess we could explain the dual meaning of that phrase. What do you think? I am Korean and apparently my friends are trying to model this business after businesses already in effect in Korea and highly successful. The whole catch is to create a relaxing, higher end establishment than the noisy Chuck E Cheeses type of environment, mainly for the moms. I'll find out more details on how they plan to accomplish that. But apparently it works there! Thanks again ladies. You guys are SOOO great!
