I'm quoted in Newsweek today. :)

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive September 2004: I'm quoted in Newsweek today. :)
By Eve on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 - 12:38 pm:

It just came out today. If you have a chance, pick it up. It's a really good parenting article. (How to Say No to Your Kids) Not to mention, I have a quote! How often does that happen?

Here's the online version:
Newsweek Article

Great article! I saw your quote too!! LOL

By Sunny on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 - 12:55 pm:

Very Cool! bounce

This is my favorite line from the article:
Experts agree: too much love won't spoil a child, but too few limits will.

By Happynerdmom on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 - 01:00 pm:

LOL, Eve. I read it last night. (We have a subscription.) I wondered if that was you...how many "Eve's" with three-year-old "Sydney's" could there be in New England? Great article, BTW.

By Palmbchprincess on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 - 01:06 pm:

Very cool Eve... I like where you said "We would like to run the show..." Like is probably the key word for most of us... doesn't ALWAYS happen!!

By Emily7 on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 - 01:10 pm:

Great article.

By Kate on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 - 01:11 pm:

Great article-and great quote Eve!

By Cocoabutter on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 - 02:13 pm:

I saw this online last night and read the whole thing! I thought it was an excellent article, and, tho I didn't know it was you, I thought your advice was excellent. It was exactly what I have done with my son when he was younger. He's 7 now, and we don't have meltdowns anynore. We have seen older children, older than my son, who have meltdowns in the store, and my son just looks at them and says to me, "What a BABY!"

Another way to help so that our kids don't get as bombarded by the marketing blitz is to keep them away from the TV as much as possible, thus allowing more quality time with parents as well. Just yesterday, my son had 3 or 4 of his friends over, and I shut off the TV on them and told them to go outside and play!

Very Cool, I never realized how hard it was to say no. I find myself giving in way to much and I need to work on that.

She actually contacted me through reading posts on Momsview. I guess having everything you say on the Web isn't always a bad thing. LOL!

Okay, Eve, now it's time to get her that rocking horse (if you haven't already)...
Seriously, this is an important topic. Great quote and thanks for posting the link!

How does it feel to be famous?

By Eve on Friday, September 10, 2004 - 12:37 pm:

LOL, John. Famous, I'm not! With all the smart Moms on the board, I'm sure anyone could have contributed.:)

It has been fun to have people get in touch with us after reading the article and stumbling across our names. Now discipline comes up in almost every conversation I have! LOL!
