Any plans for the holiday weekend?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive September 2004: Any plans for the holiday weekend?
By Annie2 on Friday, September 3, 2004 - 04:31 pm:

Dh has to work tomorrow. No idea what the kids and I will do. Beach maybe. Sunday we are doing something with friend's family. Either a cookout, beach, out to eat with kids or just grown-ups.
Monday, no clue.

Anyone else with firmer plans? LOL

Well, tonight dd is having a friend spend the night and we are doing a camp fire in the back yard with hot dogs and smores...tomorrow evening we have tickets to the Cleveland Indians game with fireworks when it is over...Sunday and Monday nothing set in stone and will likely go to the lake weather permitting!! Should be a fun weekend!!

Dh is going golfing on Sunday. Nothing else planned.

Youngest DS is having a friend spend the night tonight. I plan on working on painting my kitchen cabinets, "encouraging" DH to work on his honey-do list, and being lazy. I have some homework to take care of too. :( We will grill out on Monday--grilled chicken ribbons, cajun corn, zucchini, homemade rolls, and gingerbread. Yum!

Dh took today off, so we all went into Boston for the day. Lot of fun, lots of walking and it was so HOT, but we had fun. We did the duck tour thing, which I had never done and it was funny and informative. I was exhausted when we got home, so the kids got a special end of the summer dinner ......Ice cream from a local ice cream place.

Tomorrow, dh is doing a century bike ride with some friends (100 miles), I am getting beer and burgers for their return trip. Sunday we are going to a Busker (street performers) festival, and then a neighborhood cookout in a friend's neighborhood, not sure about Monday - either my mother is coming over and dh is going for a mountain bike ride or we are going to King Richard's Faire http://www.kingrichardsfaire.net/
which is a total blast for adults but I've never taken the kids.

No big plans. Just hanging out. Paula, I could use some cooler and less humid weather! We had more warm weather this past week than we had ALL summer! Argh!

By Feonad on Sunday, September 5, 2004 - 07:11 am:

We picked peaches. Then did a corn maze. Something different...

We also swam in a local pool.

miniture golf.

Dh was home for the week.

Too hot today for a corn maze. There will be time for that when it cools off more! We did that last year and it was fun!

DH is a newspaper photographer and had to go to the county fair today to shoot pictures of the Demolition Derby, so younger DD and I went to the fair, too. WE looked at all the horses, watched a western drill team do a routine on horseback, then went to find the little doughnuts and something to drink. We walked into the pig barn and then my cellphone rang that Gary was ready to go home.

I have been to hotter fairs, but when we were on the midway, it's so low and you get no wind, so there it was kind of stuffy. ON the perimeters of the fairgrounds, it is higher and you feel the wind more. Emily enjoyed the horses. I probably had enough fair to make me happy.

We ended up buying a new table for our kitchen. And track lighting to go over it. The track lighting is a stainless steel rod with four blue glass lights which hang down.

We don't have a dining room so this is our only dining table. We had a smaller one that fit six, snuggly. It was white with white tile on top which some of the tile was cracked when we stored it. It was time for a change.

I love it!

I tried to link it but I couldn't :(
Anyway it is 72x40. We bought four chairs and a bench.

I sure wish I could say we layed around this long weekend, but their always seems like their is some project in the works. Yesterday dh, and bil went and cut up fire wood, and my sister and I scraped the edges of the second hand wood flooring that I got at the demolition sale. It is so hard to do, we had to use scrapers and a chissel to get the old dirt/varnish off of the grooves. The sad part is my den is full of flooring, which we only pulled the nails out of and did not clue in that it all had to be cleaned :(. My hands are swollen and so sore. Today dh and bil are going golfing, and I am cleaning up the mess, from having so many people in and out of here this weekend. On friday we had dd 16th birthday party here. Myself and my oldes dd 17 made chinese food from scratch and everyone loved it, it is so hard making so many dishes at one time, but turned out awesome. Today I am cleaning up, doing the lawns, cleaning up all the balloons that the girls missed out on the lawn, ( water baloon fights) so thier was stuff everywhere yesterday. If I got everything done I want to do, I will start scraping boards again, must get the pile out of my shed as we need to put our fire wood in, plus the flooring is going to get damp. I don't really feel like I had a long weekend, back to work tommorrow.
