By Boxzgrl on Thursday, September 2, 2004 - 08:07 am:

Here I am at 5:00am PST on Momsview because I cant sleep since I woke up with a UTI. I've been up since about 4:15 and drank a TON of water hoping to urinate in out and get atleast 2 more hours of sleep. I have a long day! :( Grrrrr...... why couldnt my body wait til later?

By Trina~moderator on Thursday, September 2, 2004 - 09:40 am:

Oh no! UTIs are NO fun! Get yourself to the doctor, girlfriend. {{{HUGS}}}

I hate them too. Like Trina said make sure you get to the doctor. UTI's are nothing to ignore.

Well I never went back to sleep but im not really tired so thats okay. I usually never go the the dr. for a UTI unless it hangs around for a few days. If I drink tons of cranberry juice and water it seems to flush it right out. And they run in my family so I get them like every 2 months. My Mom and sister are the same way. But its worse when I wake up to them. :( I feel a little progress so hopefully it will be gone or symptomless by this afternoon.

I'm so sorry! I've had UTI's, but they're 'silent'...they're not painful, but they begin to do damage internally before I realize I have them.

Just remember that cranberry juice, while easing the symptoms, will NOT cure the infection. The infection needs antibiotics - don't delay talking to your doctor!

Untreated UTI's can lead to kidney diseases, according to my urologist.

Hope you feel better soon!

Melissa,
I hope you feel better soon. I've only ever had two in my life time and I don't know how you stand them. I had to go to the emergency room the first time.

By Paulas on Thursday, September 2, 2004 - 11:21 am:

I used to get them about once every six weeks. I even had a stash of antibodics so I could get started right away.

I finally had minor day surgery and I've only had one since and the surgery was at least 8 years ago. It's awful, but I can't remember what they did. They explained things to me while I was still somewhat drugged up so I don't remember. I probably should ask to see my file some day. In any event, what they did was successful. :)

((((HUGS))))

I have never had one, but my sister gets them all the time and I can tell that they hurt just by the way she talks about it. I hope you feel better real soon.

Oh yes, the stash of antibiotics, i've got that! LOL! If its an antibiotic, i've probably got it! It was great when I worked at the vet because I hate taking pills and cephalexin works miracles for my UTI's and its also a common antibiotic for animals so I would just mix up the cephalexin suspension and take some. Not exactly legal but it worked, LOL!

How can you not go to the doctor??? I had one just recently and I was miserable. I was at work and trying to put patients in rooms and I had to keep running to the bathroom and then finally, trying to get a urine sample so I could send it to the lab. The doctor and I are running past each other as he's asking me if I'm allergic to anything, etc! LOL! It just hurt so much to pee! He gave me a script for pyridium, which somehow stops the pain (and turns your urine orange!) He gave me samples and I only had to take cipro for 3 days.
