How much pizza???

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2004: How much pizza???
By Cat on Friday, August 27, 2004 - 12:33 pm:

Randy's birthday party is tomorrow (birthday's Monday--my baby will be 9!!!) and we're ordering pizza (the party's at Laser Quest). Here is who will be there.
1-2yo
1-6yo
3-9yo's
1-10yo
1-11yo
Dh and me
9 Total

How many large pizzas do you think we'll need? Dh says 2, but I don't think that will be enough. The pizza place we're getting them from has a 2 for 1 special, so it's either 2 or 4. I have a feeling 4 would be way to much. What do you all think? The only other food we'll have there is the cake and drinks. TIA :)

By Kathy on Friday, August 27, 2004 - 12:39 pm:

I say get 4 pizzas. Better to have too much than not enough! :)

By Paulas on Friday, August 27, 2004 - 12:41 pm:

It depends on much you and dh will eat. I know my dd(8) could eat at least 2 slices. I'm guessing:

2yo:1 slice
6yo:1-2 slices
9yos:2-3 slices x 3
10 yos: 3 slices
11 yo: 3 slices
you and dh: 2 slices x 2

So, 18-22 slices. I'd order 4. It's better to have leftovers than not enough.

Last year we won pizza for my class. I had 6 year olds and we EASILY ate 5-6 pizzas (20 students). I didn't eat any.

I'd get 4. If there is anything left over you can save it for later.

By Rayanne on Friday, August 27, 2004 - 12:44 pm:

I'd order 4. You could always take it home.

By Cat on Friday, August 27, 2004 - 12:51 pm:

Thanx. That's what I was thinking. We can bring leftovers home since the food is the last thing we're doing. And it would be nice to have the leftovers for dinner, since I'm not going to want to cook after having all those kids from tonight until after the party tomorrow! (Why oh WHY did I agree to a sleepover??? lol)

By Mommyathome on Friday, August 27, 2004 - 01:16 pm:

I would go with 3-4 as well! Leftover pizza is always good for lunch the next day. If the party is at Laser Quest (laser tag place?) I would think that most of the kids will be more interested in playing rather than eating. But, they could surprise you and eat up lots of pizza since they will be running around a lot! They'll be extra hungry!
You never know. I'm always worried about not having enough, so I tend to over buy. Better to be safe than sorry (and embarrased) though!

By Cybermommyx4 on Friday, August 27, 2004 - 11:49 pm:

Go with the 4, especially if you're having a *sleep*over.....that way you'll have an instant midnight munchie that's somewhat nutritious :)

By Feonad on Saturday, August 28, 2004 - 06:25 am:

Get four. Then you can eat the rest of the pizza all week. Some of the adults are going to eat the pizza.

Well we survived the sleepover part of Randy's party. We rented three video games (PS2) and a movie. I turned the movie off at 11pm last night and thought they went to sleep. It was quiet. Then at about 2am our power fluctuated for some reason and my lamp turned itself on (I have a touch switch on it and it does this every time we loose power). That woke dh and me up and we heard the boys downstairs. They were online looking at Yu-Gi-Oh cards! lol So dh turned the 'puter off and told them to go to sleep. Little nuts! They woke up at about 7:30 this morning and one had to leave for a soccer game at 8. He'll be back in about 30 minutes, we have to pick another boy up at 11 and Robin's friend should be over soon. So we'll leave for Laser Quest in about an hour. I ordered 4 pizzas and dh is picking up the cake right now. I also have a 2yo daycare kiddo here today and his mom brought a present for Randy from the little guy (*N*). I totally didn't expect that. She knew Randy's party was today, though. She's a sweetie. Anyway, we're halfway done with this weekend adventure, and no one has killed anyone yet, so I guess we're doing well. lol Thanx for your thoughts on the pizza. There may be a couple of parents there (the 6yo's mom may come and the one we have to pick up's dad will pick him up--he's allergic to cats so he can't come to our house) and they're more than welcome to take some of the pizza and cake off our hands. We're going to come back here for ice cream and the kids all go home around 4pm. Maybe one or two of them will take my kids with them! rofl

Everyone's finally gone. :) We ate two full pizzas, so we did end up bringing two home, but if one more kid had wanted one more piece I'd have felt terrible if we hadn't had it. We also have 2/3's of a cake left over! They had a blast and Randy got some great gifts. The other kids loved the party favors (cups with stickers, pencils, crazy straws fruit by the foot and fruit roll ups, along with a pass for the next time they go to Laser Quest). I think they were all ready to go home. Now I have to go de-stinkify the downstairs! I think they were having farting contests! lol

By Tink on Sunday, August 29, 2004 - 05:20 pm:

Sounds like a great time (for them!). It sounds like every party my brother ever had, farting contest and all! Glad you survived it.
