Wedding gift

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2004: Wedding gift
By Kaye on Monday, August 23, 2004 - 03:18 am:

okay I know this gets asked a lot, but there are always such good ideas. My dad is getting married again, this is his third marriage after the last two dying of cancer. I don't like this lady very much, but I think she is healthy and that goes a long ways in my book these days! So what do I get them. My dad doesn't really believe in gifts and we never exchange them, she thinks if you don't get a gift the world might stop turning. We just had a garage sale to get rid of almost all dad owned to make room for her, so I don't want to buy more stuff, but a gift certificate seems so thoughtless. That wouldn't bother me, EXCEPT we are already on bad terms! So any ideas?

How about something to show the start of their life together? Like some pretty frames to show off their wedding photos, a scrapbook or a beautiful photo album specifically decorated for them? How about a sign to their home..

These are just a few things off the top of my head. Good luck

Great ideas! I was just going to suggest taking them out for a nice meal. LOL

Really like Renee's ideas. Very thoughtful.

I think renee's ideas are great, If I liked her..LOL The idea of anything with both of their names on it, just makes me sick. As hard as it is to lose a parent, you just never seem to think about the other one moving on, now this is twice. I am still holding out hope that somehow he will come to his senses and not really marry this lady.
