I think I might cry!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2004: I think I might cry!
By Mommyathome on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - 11:27 am:

I am shopping online for backpacks this morning. I found *the* cutest Strawberry Shortcake backpack. I asked my soon to be first grader (just turned 6 and loves Strawberry Shortcake) if she would like that particular one. She said "Nah, that's too kiddish. I was thinking something in just a plain color like orange or yellow or something" :(
Too "kiddish"???? She is my baby girl, my princess, my punkin...my "kid"! LOL
It hit me like a ton of bricks when she said that. Oh well, I suppose she thinks she's all grown up now that she will be eating lunch at school.
But don't worry, she said I could still order that backpack for my younger daughter. (isn't that considerate LOL)
Thanks for letting me share. Sheesh....she's all grown up and I didn't even know.

Wait til you don't recognize them when they get in the car at school because they look so beautiful. *•••*.

By Ilovetom on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - 11:35 am:

Wait now- that was a cry •••. Not a dirty word. Promise.

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - 11:56 am:

ROFL! Pat, that particular word is blocked by the software since those letters are used to describe someone in a derogatory manner.

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - 11:57 am:

Robin, get used to it. This is the beginning of many, many bittersweet moments for you. I've decided that parenting is an emotionally painful position!

OK.....I still haven't figured out which wor Pat was trying to use!
Karen....I am learning that very quickly! I think I may need counseling before she hits Jr. High!!

By Cat on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - 12:08 pm:

Don't feel bad, Robin. I haven't figured it out either! lol Big hugs. It's hard when they grow up, isn't it? {{{{{Robin}}}}}

By Melanie on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - 12:13 pm:

LOL, it took me a while, but I figured it out. She is sobbing. LOL. :)

(((HUGS)))) Robin. It's a bittersweet moment for sure.

LOL! I was crying. I have twin girls that are 15 and they have just gone lately.

Then I look at Rayanne's baby and wonder where the time went. *not ••• in this one*.

By My2cuties on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - 12:49 pm:

By Rayanne on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - 01:00 pm:

It's crazy!!!! I can't believe that my litte baby is going to be ONE in 3 months!!!! Time does fly by sooo fast. My DH can't understand why I am so emotional about Rylee turning one. It's gotta be a mom thing.

Thank you Pat. That was sweet. I still don't know where the time went.:)

By Mommyathome on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - 01:17 pm:

*sobbing*.....got it :)

By Vicki on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - 01:19 pm:

Rayanne, your not alone at the being emotional about your baby turning one. At my dd's first bday party (mind you we had BOTH sides of the family at one big party..we rented a hall! about 60 people) as soon as we lit her candle and started singing happy birthday, I started sobbing!! I couldn't even stop!! So your not alone on that one!! LOL

My son is 7.

When he was 1 he liked Barney.

At 2, he like the Lion King.

At 3, he liked Thomas the Tank Engine.

At 4, he liked Hot Wheels.

At 5, 6, and 7, he has liked Spiderman.

Now, he tells me he HATES Barney and Thomas the Tank Engine.

I said, "You don't HATE them, you're just older now."

He said, "No I HATE them!"

When he's a dad, he'll understand. :)
