Looking for a Red Dress

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2004: Looking for a Red Dress
By Brandy on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 - 03:52 pm:

for my brother's wedding in March = ) can anyone suggest a cheap place to go i really don't want to get it right now though because 1.I don't have the money and 2.I'm going to lose this darn weight before then = ) the reason it's going to be red is because that's my favorite color and also would you wear red shoes with it or black i don't know but i want to look nice there also = )

Have you looked at Chadwicks? They are very inexpensive.
If it's a fancier dress, clear heels would look great! That seems to be the new "in" thing now :) Maybe nude shoes would look nice as well. I guess red would be my 3rd choice for shoes, and black would be my last. Wearing colored shoes with a dress really draws attention to your feet.

If you have a Value City or TJMaxx, try them. I have a lovely red silk dress that I wear, and I always wear black hose with black heels. Don't do black heels with tan or nude hose...definite no no. Whatever color you choose, match hose with heels, or it will look "off." P.S. I LOVE red dresses!

Do you have a Ross near you? They always have cheap clothes. JCPenny's also always has good sales.

What type of dress are you looking for Brandy? I have a beautiful red dress, not spaghetti strap, but a larger shoulder strap. I never wore it, we were supposed to go on a cruise with dh's stepmom and dad about 5 years ago. If you like I could email you a picture and if you are interested you can have it. It's from Penney's. Just email elvafrompa @ yahoo.com (no spaces, do this so no one searches for email addresses).

It may not be until tomorrow morning. The only really could place to take a picture (to hang something) is my front door. It is a beautiful dress. Sorry, I never bought any shoes to match, we never got that far, lol!

I would say black heels and nude stockings. I don't like black hose and shoes, if there isn't black in the dress. Kohl's had some great dresses last fall and might again this year.

By Kay on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 - 05:51 pm:

I'd go with black heels and nude stockings - only wear the black hose/black heels if your skirt is black, in order to create a clean line. If you break the line of a red skirt with black hose, then you create a choppier, and often squattier look.

Brandy, sent you pics, wasn't sure whether you would look here or your email.

Really hard to buy a pretty dress. I would go to Kohls or Macys and try dresses on. I could try on 50 dresses and have 2 look good on me. Bring you heels and wear proper undergarments for full effect.
