Freezing cookies???

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2004: Freezing cookies???

Can you freeze cookies that are already baked? A friend brought us this huge tin of cookies that she made, and I can't eat them right now (low carb at the moment). The boys won't eat them because they have nuts in them, and dh can't eat them all by himself (although I'm sure if he applied himself he could! lol). I hate for them to go to waste. Our friend also want us to let her know if they're good or not, because this is a new recipe she's trying. I should have taken them to church yesterday--they'd have been gone! :) I'm going to go ahead and stick them in the freezer because I have nothing to lose, but will the be okay? TIA :)

You know, I never froze cookies before Melanie told me to go for it! LOL! Sure enough, whenever I bake (It's rare) I make sure to freeze some for another time. They've tasted great!:)

Thanx, Eve. They're in the freezer now. I did go ahead and taste a piece of one so I can honestly tell our friend I tried them! (A couple carbs won't hurt too much) lol They're okay, not great, but not terrible. A little dry, but it's Colorado and she's only lived here about 6 months so she's still getting used to cooking here. I think they'll be great dipped in milk or hot chocolate! :)

My FIL freezes his homemade cookies all the time. They come out great!

What's the best way to wrap them up and then defrost them?

By Melanie on Monday, August 16, 2004 - 01:02 pm:

I always freeze cookies! :) I put them in freezer bags. When it's time to take them out I either just pull a whole bag out and let it defrost on the counter or if I just one a couple I toss it in the microwave for a short time. YUM!

We freeze them too. Either in freezer bags or layered in wax paper in tupperware.

I freeze them all the time, I start making Christmas cookies in November. I spend a lot of time decorating them and wouldn't have time to do that in December. They are very good when I get them out, icing and all.

I put them in rubbermaid containers, I put a piece of wax paper between layers too.
