Puppy shower

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2004: Puppy shower
By Tink on Saturday, August 14, 2004 - 01:58 am:

A good friend at work recently had her dog hit by a truck and it died. She will be getting a new puppy in a couple of weeks. Several of us decided to throw her a puppy shower for the new dog. There are going to be about 10 of us in age from 16 to 35. I was thinking about making cookies in the shape of dogbones and making the Muddy Buddy type Chex Mix because most of us in this area call it "dog food". But I don't have any idea what else to do. Any ideas? I know there are plenty of animal lovers here and lots of creative women so I expect lots!...:)

Never heard of a puppy shower! How about a gift certificate to a pet supply store? Find out who her Vet. is and if he/she does gift certificates. That would be a big help towards vaccinations and neuter/spaying. Dog chew toys, dog bed, leash,...

Play pin the leash on the puppy. Enlarge and print this.

Then paste them on to heavy posterboard and cut out the pup and the copies of the leash. Put tape on the leash copies, and play like pin the tail on the donkey.

A puppy shower?? What a cool idea! I could have used one myself! LOL! Even though, we had had a dog only 6 wks before we got Jasmine, we spent an incredible amount of money on new stuff for her!

How about the safety-pin thing where you lose the pin if you say the word puppy?

Scrambled dog words instead of scrambled baby words?

We call the chex mix with chocolate, peanut butter and powdered sugar, "puppy chow" around here! At a bake sale, it is a popular treat!

Thanks everybody! I really hadn't thought of turning baby shower games into puppy games. Duh! Bea, thanks for making that so easy! I think it will be so fun. We hadn't heard of this either but it seemed fun and nice after all she went through with her first dog.

They have "scooby snacks" now that are actually grahm crackers. They look EXACTLY like dog bones!! Just look in the cookie/cracker aisle.
