DH made a boo-boo :)

Here's why it is not a good idea to try to communicate in a language you don't know...DH just got back from a mission trip to Nicaragua. The team has several translators working with them, but you inevitably pick up a little Spanish too. My DH never took a foreign language until Greek and Hebrew in seminary, so he knows NOTHING about any of the romance languages. He has, however, picked up a few random Spanish words. He thought he'd be funny and was wishing everyone "Dias feliz de gato" (Happy day of the cat) and "Dias feliz de arbor" (Happy day of the tree) just goofing off. Then he rolled down the window in the van and randomly shouted out "Dias feliz de enchilada" thinking that it meant...happy day of the enchilada, of course. One of the college-aged interpreters told him to please not say that again. It was only then that DH learned that in Nicaragua "enchilada" is slang for a part of the female anatomy (think *meow*). So he was saying, "Happy day of the *****." I think he's learned his lesson and is sticking with English until additional formal Spanish instruction. :)

That is to funny. My dad did something very simular to my Mom, he was told to come home & say this little sentence to her. Our neighbor started laughing & told him he didn't want to say that again. He was calling my Mom his little wh**e. My mom was not pleased.

ROFL X 2. I remember doing something similar, not knowing the slang terms. I said something in Portuguese along the lines of, "Oh, I didn't mean that. Now I'm embarassed." Apparently I said, "Oh, I just had an accident and now I'm pregnant."
