Days & One Life to Live

By Pamt on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 02:39 pm:

Nope. As a matter of fact I had to "fire" a babysitter for watching them--in front of my kids!!--even after I told her not to. My mom tapes DOOL daily though.

By Trina~moderator on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 04:06 pm:

No. I don't care for them.

By Marcia on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 04:25 pm:

Days, Y&R and B&B. I tape them and watch them at night, when everyone else is snoring.

By Bellajoe on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 04:50 pm:

Days of our Lives, and that's it. That is my one hour of t.v. a day and hopefully peace, a day. I'm hooked even though it is the cheesiest story line right now. (and always :) ) Is Jennifer EVER going to get off that cliff?? :)

By Kernkate on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 05:32 pm:

Nope, haven't watched them in about 10 years. Just don't have the time anymore. All my children and General Hospital use to be my favorite!!

By Vicki on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 06:08 pm:

When school is in, I usually watch General Hospital as my last hour of calm and quiet before dd gets home. I usually make a fresh pot of coffee and sit and relax before home work and bath and bedtime!! In the summer, I don't watch much tv during the day, but will on occasion catch it.

By Mommyathome on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 06:57 pm:

I used to be "addicted" to Guiding Light. But the past 6 months or so I haven't had time to watch! Also, my kids usually don't take a nap, and I won't watch it if they are awake. That is the only one I've ever watched. I probably watched for about 18 months or so.
I turned it on the other day and was totally lost, so I turned it off.

By Nanaoie on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 07:16 pm:

Bellajoe,I cannot believe they have her hanging there in labor, you would think the kids would fall out! lol

By Sunny on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 09:29 pm:

I've watched General Hospital off and on since 1981. Sometimes if there is nothing else on, I'll watch it on Soapnet at night, but I'd rather read my books. :)

By Bellajoe on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 08:14 am:

Lori, next thing you know, the kid will fall out and will be hanging off the cliff too :)

Or maybe not, since Patrick is going to get bitten by the deadly banana spider! oh geeezzz! They will probably fall and Jack will come out of nowhere and catch Jennifer before she plunges to her death....I should write this stuff LOL! :)

By Eight_Kids on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 08:30 am:

Big Guiding Light fan here....started watching that one about 20 years ago. The sad thing is you can go months without watching it and still catch up. Who has the time to sit down and watch them???? I caught up while I was in the hospital but generally I hit the web site every now and then!! :)

By Eve on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 09:02 am:

I like Guiding Light too. I find just what Beth says to be true. You can watch at anytime and it's fun catching up. I don't think I would enjoy it as much if I watched everyday. Boy though, a soap is great when you are having a bad day and you just want to escape for a little bit.

In HS, I was a totaly General Hospital fan. Now, I couldn't tell you who was on the show! It's been YEARS!

When I was on bedrest with my DD, I watched a little bit of All My Children and As The World Turns. Still, if I had to choose one it would be GL. What I would really love, is to be able to find a photo of Laura Wright's hair! (Cassie Winslow) I can't find a good one, and I think I would be too embarrassed to buy a Soap magazine at the store. LOL! I might have to, because I want her haircut.:)

By Debbie on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 09:49 am:

I haven't watched soaps since I graduated from college. I watched Days for years. I started one summer in junior high because my best friend's Mom always watched it. I got hooked and continued to watch it every summer. I actually arranged my classes in college, so that I could watch it!!

By Kaye on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 11:00 am:

I have watched days my entire life. I only catch it now once a week, but I read what is happening on a regular basis. My routine is folding laundry and watching soaps. I know when the bad scenes are going to happen, there are rarely any love scences these days, my youngest used to lay down with me while Bo Bo was on TV and then he would nap.

By Melanie on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 11:13 am:

I watched General Hospital from the time I was in my mother's womb (LOL) until I went to college. (I think I was 7 when Luke and Laura got married and I remember it well! LOL) I watched Days from when I was about 14 until college. Now I don't watch any.

By Robyn on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 02:52 pm:

I watch "Y&R". I enjoy it. Does anyone else?

By Bea on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 02:54 pm:

Not since Santa Barbara went off the air.

By Cat on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 04:22 pm:

Bea, I watched Santa Barbara and got my mom hooked, too! It started when I was in high school. I was so bummed when it went off the air. :( I did watch Y&R for a couple years, but haven't seen it for about 8 or 9 years now. I don't even know who half the people are anymore. Remember when Nick went off to bording school as about a 10yo and came back a few months later as about a 17yo??? WOW he aged quick! lol Funny how they do that on TV. :)

By Insaneusmcwife on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 06:24 pm:

I don't care to much for day time soaps but I am hooked on the evening WB line up. 7th Heaven, Gilmore Girls (not so much since I've seen Bad Santa, I just can't look at her the same again) Summerland, Smallville, Blue Collar TV, REBA.

By Dawnk777 on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 09:20 pm:

Seven, when Luke and Laura got married?? LOL! I skipped a nursing class to watch Luke and Laura get married when I was in college! Yikes! I just looked it up. 11-16-81, so I would have been 21!

I don't watch soaps anymore, though. I don't have time!

By Melanie on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 09:25 pm:

LOL, thanks for the date. I was actually 8. :)

By Luvn29 on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 11:14 pm:

I LOVE Days! Watch that one religiously and have since as far back when I was a little girl as I can remember!

I had just gotten hooked on Another World when they took it off air. What a bummer!

Now I hesitently admit I watch Passions. Not like I do DOOL, but enough to know all that is going on. It drives me insane though!

Bellajoe, you still have me laughing with that line about the baby falling out and hanging onto the cliff! hehe! I can picture it!

By Nicosmom on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 11:26 pm:

Only a few Y&R fans here? I've been watching this for so long. I started catching glimpses of it when I was about 10 when my dad would watch it on ocassion. Now this is a topic of disscussion for us. I do remember when Nick came back from school a grown man! I can't and won't watch everyday, but I do keep up with it. I also call my dad to catch me up on it. He Tivo's it and watches it every night.

By Marcia on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 11:47 pm:

I've been watching the Y&R since the 70's. Nikki was married to Greg, Jill worked for Katherine, and the Prentiss and Brooks families were the main characters. No Abbotts or Newmans at that time. Wow, time sure has flown!

Days won't be on again until Aug 30, because of the Olympics. I'm pretty bummed about that! The preview for the next show was about 5 minutes long, to really keep us hanging!!
