Ham slices on grill ??

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive July 2004: Ham slices on grill ??

I realize this might need to go on the recipe board, but I am not sure how much traffic that gets and if I need to do something, it is going to need to be fairly quick! We bought some big ham slices with the idea of putting them on the grill. Well, I got the out of the freezer this morning and now I am not sure what to do with them. Should I marinade (sp?) them in something, make a sauce for grilling or just grill them plain or add bbq sauce??? Any suggestions appreciated!!

When I grill ham I also like to grill pineapple. I put a little pineapple juice on the hamsteaks. Be careful because they can dry out fast if you don't watch them

Pineapple juice and 7Up makes a great marinade for ham. It would probably help keep them from drying out on the grill if they were basted in it. Let us know how it turns out.

Well, I didn't feel like running to the store for pineapple, so I just slapped them on the grill for 3 and a half minutes a side (per directions) and they were wonderful. Very tender and flavorful (they were smoked pieces) and not dried out at all. Very nice change of pace for dinner. Thanks for the suggestions though, we still have 2 slices in the freezer, so I will try that next time.

Yum! It sounds like a nice change. I'm glad it turned out well. Nice and Easy, my way to cook! :)
