If it isn't one thing, it's another

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive July 2004: If it isn't one thing, it's another

I now have an entire electrical circuit out in my house - kitchen ceiling light and fan, bedroom ceiling light and fan, dining room ceiling light, bathroom lights, and all of the upstairs stuff (where Scott sleeps/lives) except the circuit his computer is connected to. My ex, who is an electrical engineer, is now prowling around trying to find where the short circuit is so it can be fixed. Oh, and the attic lights.

D**n, d**n, d**n !!

Did he find anything yet?

Why one should stay on good terms with one's ex, if one can. I now have upstairs lights (but not Scott's air conditioner), kitchen and dining room lights, and bedroom ceiling light and fan. I don't have the outlets for the stove and microwave (but the frig is still running) and don't have lights in my bathroom, but they think they have pretty much narrowed it down (my ex and son Scott). And my ex has offered to buy the parts and put in three new lines for me to (a) get rid of the short circuit and (b) give me some separate lines for things that belong on separate lines. All of which he estimates will cost me $500-600, including paying him a bit for his time and recruiting two of our sons to work with him.

I am grateful and thrilled, and so very, very glad I worked at staying on good terms with him.

That`s great Ginny ! sounds like your ex saved you lots of $$$.
Yes, it is good to stay on good terms with one`s ex.

Well, I now have everything back except the microwave. Turned out it was a bad outlet behind the stove that the stove and microwave plugged into. He got the stove plugged in (electronic igniters, darn it) but says don't use the microwave. He will come over tomorrow night and rewire and replace that outlet and put in a separate outlet for the microwave. And I have the lights in the bathroom (which were on the same circuit).

I definitely have to find out what brand of beer that man drinks.
