Need reviews on the Scunce (??) steam cleaner

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive July 2004: Need reviews on the Scunce (??) steam cleaner
By Tklinreston on Monday, July 26, 2004 - 02:27 pm:

Have you guys seen that infomercial on the steam cleaner called Scuncee (don't know the spelling) ? It's a hand-held "red" steam cleaner that costs around $50.00? It looks great and I'm really interested in buyin it but my ds is very skeptical. Has anyone ordered that particular product? Any comments?

No clue on that one but I have the hand held Enviro-steamer and love it!

I found it-it is called: Scunci Steamer
I would buy the Eureka Hot Shot
1) It is well known (Eureka brand)
2) It has the Goodhousekeeping seal of approval
3) I personally have it and love it.
I bought mine at Lowes.

Yvonne, our bathroom floor has ceramic tiles on it. (pure white throughout). Over 5 years dirt has accumulated in the grout and even chemical grout removers don't get it all out. Would the enviro steamer work on something like that?

Enviro-steamer (floor model) is great for floors. I too have white tile that used to have a grey tint to it until I steamed them. Bonus my tiles were always slippery after mopping--not after steaming!
The hot shot is the hand held model and while it could do floors it would take forever compared to Enviro-steamer model. It will clean your grout though! I use the hot shot on my tiled countertops.
I have both models. I used the envirosteamer for all my tile floors and the hot shot for my showers, tubs, sinks, grill, countertops, etc. It makes quick work out of crud.

I always go to epinions.com to find reviews of items. You might try that.

I took my hand held steamer back! I bought it at Kohl's it was the Shark brand. It did work but didn't hold enough water to clean very much...
I wouldn't purchase one online, only because it is expensive to return if you aren't satisfied.
I do own the Environmental steamer and love it, though..

You guys should know that there is a pretty big difference between steam and vapor. I did a ton of studying before buying what they call a Vapor 3000. I just love it. Here’s a 5-question little quiz that will show you why vapor is much better. Take a look at their testimonial page too. Take care.

Now I'm even MORE confused.......................

Sorry for the confusion. I like my vapor cleaner a lot. But I was confused at first too. Here is a site loaded with testimonials from real people who tried other machines. I really liked this one in particular -

"A few months ago, I posted my problems with steam cleaners like the Hot Shot, Euro-Pro Professional, DeLonghi, and the Shark Portable to The Eclectus Connection, an email list of over 1,200 parrot owners worldwide. I then did days of research and I found one I love. The Vapor 2000 not only cleans the parrot cages, it cleans my dirty oven (I do have a self-cleaning but choose not to use them), my countertops in kitchen and bath, and my shower tiles and doors—they all look new. The Vapor 2000 is well worth its price and Vapor Systems is wonderful to work with. Since I now have my bathrooms looking like new, it should only take minutes each week to keep them clean."

Anyway, here’s the site -
