Does anyone shop at cosco ?

If so , what is it like?We are having one open up near us.TIA!

By Missymelissy on Monday, July 26, 2004 - 07:52 am:

We used to shop at Costco until they opened Sam's here. I would prefer Costco, better value on somethings. We usually get our tp, paper towels, laundry detergeant there. The toilet paper (not sure of the name brand) we got from Costco lasted a lot longer than what we get at Sam's.

The Sam's club here has bigger aisles than Costco and it doesn't seem as cluttered as Costco.

We have decided that we will not renew our Sam's membership and we will get another Costco membership.

Not sure if this really answered your question or not.

We used to buy diapers and wipes at bjs. Saved a bunch of money. I know people who buy meat - cheese - chicken nuggets - fish stick there. They sell everything cheap.

Kind of a fun store, if you buy alot of stuff. You could take a look and see if it worth the membership fee.

Now we don't buy diapers, I don't use the membership.

We go all the time (once a week). We buy so much there at this point. Living with three boys- we go through a lot of food! :) I used to buy formula there. I buy Wipes, cleaning supplies, diapers, clothes, bagels, veggies, fruit, yogurt, paper goods, bottled water, soda, juice, milk, meat, hummus, canned goods, medicine, snacks for the kids, birthday presents.... See what I mean- it's great! We bought a washing machine there, a DVD player, TV and VCR! We're hooked!

We don't have one in our area but my parents do. Every time we visit I have to go to Costco. LOL! Great deals! :)

Our nearest costco is 4 hours away. My Mom bought a sofa set there 15 years ago & it is still in excellent shape. They had better deals than Sam's club in my opinion, but it has been a few years since I have had a membership.

For me it is similar to Sam's, just different stuff. I prefer Sam's but only because they have the brands I am most familiar with. For example I liked pampers diapers, you could get those at Sam's, but costco had huggies. As far as bulk shopping goes, the key is to use it like a grocery store and only get things on the list, or it will really suck your money away! You can get great deals on books, furniture, appliances etc, but for the first few years we went I always walked out at way over 100 dollars, when all i needed was cereal bars..LOL.

I love Costco!!! :) We go probably once a month and use it for things that we need alot of... TP, paper towels, paper plates, juice, baby wipes. I can get my Pantene shampoo without feeling guilty about paying soooo much per bottle. Their baked goods are fantastic! They sell banana bread (and other flavors) in a package of four. I put them in the freezer indivually and take them out as you need them and they're like fresh baked!!! And my DD loves to go for all the samples... she eats her way through the aisles, making friends with all the ladies cooking!!! (Can you tell I LOVE Costco???)

I Love Costco!!! I also go once a month to stock up on supplies. Dishwasher detergent is so cheap there and I buy frozen chicken there...what a deal! They have the best deals. I would highly recommend that you go and check it out. It's well worth the membership fee and if you decide you don't like it or if you don't like a product just bring it back...even if you opened it and they will give you your money back.
Hope you like it as much as my family.

I've never been in a Cosco, but we sure do like Sam's Club.:)

I love Sams club. For the dog food alone we save enough to justify our membership. I love the meats, fruits, and vegetables. Better prices than the grocery store. My favorite is the deals on books. I have bought a lot of homeschool supplies from Sams at a great savings. We do not have a coscos but I am sure its the same concept.

I used to go to Costco in Long Island and Brooklyn all the time. It was great. Now we have a BJ's here, which is the same concept. I buy eveything I can in bulk, this way my supertmarket shopping is minimal.
You can get a guest pass to shop and see how you like it, then decide if you want to join.
It's worth the membership.

We got back our membership fee in what I saved purchasing "Little House On the Prairie" seasons 1-4 DVDs!

By Truestori on Monday, July 26, 2004 - 07:06 pm:

Sue,

Your best bet is to go and ask for a one day pass. It is free and you can look around and shop if you like! :)
Also if you have a friend who is going to get a Costco card you could just get added on their account for $10 dollars. I do this with my mom...lol I am on her Costco card and I keep a Sam's card for her.
The milk and cheese, bread and all that is cheaper, but then there are so many other things that catch your eyes while your there..UUGGHHH So it makes it easy to spend way to much.

Thanks for all the tips gals.It sounds like costco is a lot like sams club , which I currently have a membership with.
Maybe I will get one to both ? Do they cost as much as sams?
I will for sure get the day pass and check it out! Can`t wait till they open.
It`s pretty close to our sams club also.
Thanks again ! Sue

Does a Sam's club membership expire?

By Momaroze on Monday, July 26, 2004 - 10:24 pm:

Costco is great! They have people giving samples out of all kinds of different foods, cooked, snacks, bars, etc. There is such a variety of stuff in the warehouse store. It's really a one stop shop for us. Also, they have a spot where you can eat. Yummy food for the most part and cheap!
