Anyone sell on ebay?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive July 2004: Anyone sell on ebay?

I have been BUYING like crazy on ebay, but I want to start selling! I have heard many success stories! I saw an e-book you can buy & the user will e-mail the book to you for 9 dollars. Is it worth it? I am not even sure what to sell, I was thinking about some kids clothes. Maybe I could buy a lot of kids clothes at yard sales or something & then sort them out & sell them?

I don't know, that was one idea I had. Maybe not even clothes, but I would love to start selling something!

You do not need to buy an e book! It is very easy. I think the most important thing to have is a digital camera. Pictures make a big difference in selling things. I have sold on ebay for years. I usually sold new clothing but have also sold a huge armoire, a fishing boat, a jet ski, etc. I currently am not selling (homeschooling is taking up a great deal of my day) but love the fact you can stop and start whenever you wish.
I know a lot of people sell used clothing and do well. I liked selling new because I wouldn't have to worry about missing any flaws (stains/etc). You just have to find what works for you. I started by listing a few things I had around the house. When they sold I used my profits to buy my digital camera and then I was in business. There are tutorials on ebay you can read. I used Auctionwatch as a means to load my pictures and create my listings. You pay a small percentage to them and I liked the easy process so it was worth it to me.
Good luck!
Yvonne

I have a jamcam that my dad gave me & I am still trying to get it to work with XP.
How would I get a lot of new clothes & be able to sell them for so cheap?
I could see the used clothes, but aren't the new ones hard to get for cheap?

Shop the end of season clearance racks at Dillards, Nordstroms, GAP and so on. Then save the clothes until it's time to purchase them again. (Buy summer clothes on clearance now....save them until spring and then list them new with tags!)
Also, if you make something crafty, you can sell it on e-bay as well. I sell a product on e-bay and make about $100.00 a week doing it. I just do it in my spare time. A lot of my sells come from repeat customers.
Also, if you buy your kids name brand clothes, keep them in tip-top condition. They can resell on e-bay for a lot!
You don't need a book. It's mostly trial and error. A digital camera is a must. I never buy anything unless there is a photo of it!

I am going to start working on it.

Outlet stores are a great source for getting new items. Best part of all--keep receipts and tags and if they do not sell after a few tries return them for something else!

i sell my cross stitching on ebay. Thats been real good to me, its time consuming but i love it, just don't have room in my house for so many, lol!

If you choose to shop in outlet stores, be sure to mention that in your auction. People will pay less if the tag says GAP OUTLET rather than just GAP. As long as you mention it in the auction, then you'll be fine!

What about weight? I have something that I made and I have gotten a lot of compliments on it, so I was thinking of showing it on e-bay. I just don't know how to charge for shipping and handeling.

Robin, do you have a store on Ebay? If so, would you mind emailing me the link - I'd love to check it out! :)

I just e-mailed you Amy :)

Rayanne....take you item to the post office all boxed up like you were going to ship it. Have them weigh it for you. Write down the weight.
Then, you can add a "shipping calculator" to your auction. You just give the weight, and the customers can type in their zip code and see how much it would be to ship it to them. That works great if you are just selling a particular item over and over again. Of course it wouldn't be very economical to do that if you were selling odds and ends! LOL Once you get going, you can estimate shipping costs. Also, look at other similar auctions and see what they are charging for shipping.
