Okay ladies...this pregnancy is looking to be a rough one. I am restricted to tylenol for pain and well frankly it does nothing. I am getting alot of headaches and my joints are swollen and sore already. I have covered myself with bengay and am now wondering if it does anything more than make your skin feel cool burn for a few minutes, lol! I can't find a heating pad anywhere! So any ladies with some old home remedies that worked wonders for them could you please share! I have also been taken off my allergy pills and i can take benedryl which works great but it makes me sooo sleepy, anything OTC that you know works and doesn't make you sleepy, i have never tried anything else.

I just keep telling myself only 6 months, only 6 months, you can do it, only 6 months, lol!!!

OK
Headaches: Try the wonderful lavender pillows. You can heat them in the microwave. I have had them ease even my worst migraine headaches.

Joint pain: Hot baths are great at relieving some joint pain while others cool packs work.
I spent a great deal of my pregnancy in the bath tub. My hubby used to joke that I was the cleanest pregnant woman around.

Herbal teas are great for relaxing yourself and can relieve some stuffiness of allergys. I personally like chamomile and peppermint.

Good luck!

Ask your ob if you can take motrin. I know it's not safe during the third trimester, but I took it in my first and second with no problems.

Ditto Yvonne.

I swear by my lavendar pillow. Heat in the microwave for 2min. this helps relieve my headaches immediately. "Magic pillow" or at least I think that is what it is called works wonders too. I imagine you can buy something like that over there? :)

I get horrible migraines and one thing that really helps my headaches when all else fails is to get in a hot shower and let the water hit the back of your neck and at the same time massage your scalp gently all over. It works for me almost every time:) I hope you can at least try this.
Also, alternating hot and cold compresses to the aching area for ten minutes can alleviate some of your pain.

Some headaches are triggered by low blood sugar. By not missing meals and carrying high-energy snacks with you, you can prevent any bouts of decreased blood sugar.

If you can't buy a heating pad, try a damp towel heat in the microwave for a minute and lay that across your sore joints. Drink some warm tea too. I like just plain tea, but any kind is good for soothing.

I have been doing the hot bath thing sometimes twice a day on top of my showers, dh reminds me that its a good darn thing we don't pay for water bill, lol!!! Thank you soo much for all your suggestions, i will certainly try all of them!

Double check this is okay with the doctor. I believe vitamin c flushes out and doesn't accumulate. You have to be so careful when pregnant.

Vitamin c for joint pain and head aches and allergy symptoms. About two thousand for pain. Repeat in 3-4 hours. Vitamin c will also kill the allergy symptoms. We both have allergies and will attest it works wonders.

Totally kills my sons allergy symptons, when he takes 500 milligram chewable duane reade one.

Vitamin c decrease swelling in the joints. Definitely takes away headaches. Did this myself many times.

My husband does this with his 80 year old mom with arthritis. It works. I tried it myself many times. Ask the doctor if this is okay.

Did the doctor okay the ben gay?

If you stop taking the vitamin c during the day all symptons just return.

Yvonne, Lynne...where do you get the lavendar pillows? I get headaches daily and would love to find some "natural" way to get rid of them!

Craft stores, ebay, sometimes at booths in the mall. I was lucky enough to get one for Christmas--my friend made it for me. I love it!

Tylenol, Extra stength Tylenol, plain Robatussin, and Vicks vaporub! My Dr. had it like a recording!
LOL!
I remember those days!!

Check with your Dr.- mine let me take plain Sudafed ONCE in a WHILE! not every day, but when they are really really bad.

Benadryl is okay, too.

Janet, I know here I can buy the "Magic bag" at any local drug store. I think they sell them at large grocery chains as well. They work really well, they just don't have the Lavendar scent to them. Lavendar is supposed to be beneficial for calming and relaxing, sleeping. You can purchase some lavendar oil or bubble bath. Also, I believe health stores would carry lavendar pillows? Some people make their own, check on the web for more ideas. :)

Janet, Just be careful using lavender anything if you have allergies. It can be an allergy/headache trigger. All of the lavender bath products for babies and toddlers (made by Johnson and Johnson) have warnings about not using them on kids with asthma for that reason. I learned the hard way with DD when I bought an lavender air freshener for the car. It sent her into one of the worst attacks she has had in a long time. Also, my allergies were 10 times worse w/ my last pregnancy--I took actifed and it did wonders w/out making me drowsy.

I had terrible headaches with my last pregnancy. I went to a chiropractor a few times and then had a couple of massages when they acted up again. It worked wonders!
