I have the chance to watch a 10 wk old little girl from 5:30am till 2:30pm...how much would you charge?? I have not done this in a long time and was wondering what the going rate is?? She would bring diaper etc

By Yjja123 on Friday, January 18, 2008 - 07:03 pm:

$20.00 a day is what I would charge.

By Marcia on Friday, January 18, 2008 - 11:22 pm:

The going rate around here would be at least $40/day for an infant. When I did daycare several years ago, I charged $25. I was probably one of the cheapest.

By Brandy on Friday, January 18, 2008 - 11:56 pm:

I don't know if i could handle it so i probably wouldn't do it lol but if i did it would depend on where the parents work/how much money they made...

By Mrsheidi on Saturday, January 19, 2008 - 12:24 am:

Wow, you would be coherent at 5:30am? I'd pay *at least* $40 a day if someone got up that early to watch my infant!

By Mrsheidi on Saturday, January 19, 2008 - 12:25 am:

ps- a month for full time daycare is around $1,000+ a month around here for an infant. one of my neighbors is having to send her son to a place nearby. hth? :) still...5:30am...woah.

By Reds9298 on Saturday, January 19, 2008 - 08:05 am:

$30/day for sure. 5:30 is EARLY!! :) It would be around $800/mth. 5 days/week here for a daycare center, and honestly possible a little more with that early hour.

By Vicki on Saturday, January 19, 2008 - 11:24 am:

That is 8 hours a day, I wouldn't be doing it for less than 5.00 a hour, so that would be 40.00 a day. Still much cheaper than most daycares in my area!

By Dawnk777 on Saturday, January 19, 2008 - 11:31 am:

Actually, that's 9 hours a day! 8 hours would only be 1:30pm. 5:30am is sooo early.

By Yjja123 on Saturday, January 19, 2008 - 12:05 pm:

You need to check going rate in your area.
I used to drop Jessica off at 4-4:30 AM! My sitter loved it because she slept. I would carry her in their house and put her in a crib and leave. It did not disrupt their sleep.

In my area it would be anywhere between $130-$275 a week, depending on whether you go with in-home care, center care or whatever. I'd charge $150 a week, personally. We have a Montessori school a few miles away that's $245 a week for that age. YIKES! Good luck with whatever you decide. :)
