Does the scoopable non tracking litter work?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2004: Does the scoopable non tracking litter work?

Thanks.

We just got a kitten. Not so crazy about this clumping litter we got. Seems to be so small and get every where.

Clumping litter is GREAT!! SO MUCH easier to tend to and less smelly than ordinary litter. We have two litter boxes in the basement so tracking isn't much of an issue. No one sees it! LOL! (Our cellar door has a cat door in it.) We scoop daily and put the waste into a trash bag in a barrel. It has an air tight cover. Weekly we sweep around the boxes and empty the waste bag. Every month or so we dump the dry litter into one box at a time and wash out the empty one.

Tell us about your kitten! Male, female? What is it's name? Pics? text description

As for "non tracking", I don't think it is by any means perfect. But the scoopable litter is really great. The cat boxes in my house were in the basement, and I put them inside a large shallow plastic pan, about 3 x 5, that garages use when changing oil. Others put the litter box on a low pile carpet that tends to rub the litter off the cats feet. Some people swear by the indoor/outdoor plastic type carpet for that purpose.

She is a black and white runt. Very friendly. Have to see if dh will post pictures.

The crystals really work well. They don't track anywhere. If you can get them at a wholesale club, then the price is okay. I won't use anything else anymore (and I've tried everything)

We use the Tidy Cats Crystals. Works wonders!!!

Thanks! Anything to make my life easier.

Revolutionary new micropore technology evaporates moisture, traps odor, and allows you to go up to a month without changing the litter (for one cat).
Litter stays dry up to 30 days for a single cat (15 days for 2 cats, 7 days for 3 cats). Millions of micropores lock in moisture and odor. Litter is safe and non-toxic.
Low dust, low tracking due to crystaline shape

I'll have to try the Tidy Cats Crystals. Our method is to put a shaggy throw rug in front of the litterbox to catch stray litter, which does work, but does need to be washed/shaken every few days.

I am not sure but I think the kitty peed on the bathroom rug! Just a drama around here. At least I can wash it easy.

This kitten is quite young. What are you using for a litter box? A full size one is much too high for her to get in and out of easily. Try something with low sides until she gets bigger.

I just go a kitten litter box. Very small. She seems to be doing good with it except this one time. Not sure why...

My cat has an accident every couple months (dh forgot to clean out the litter box) and when she does it's always on the bathroom rug. Our housesitter didn't clean out the litter box on our trip to Disneyland and she went in the bathtub. I was just glad that it was easy to clean up.

Fresh Step crystals are also good.

Feona, we just recently got two kittens. The youngest was 5 weeks old when we got her. She did have two accidents within the first week, but I think it's because our house is large and she may have forgotten where the litter box was. I don't know, but I think that the accidents won't happen often. Good thing that you can wash the rug easily.
