Honeysuckles

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2004: Honeysuckles
By Coopaveryben on Friday, May 7, 2004 - 10:51 pm:

The honeysuckles are in bloom and even if I am feeling horrible the smell of them makes me happy all over and can completely change my mood. The other things that make me happy are hearing the kids laughing, hearing and watching geese fly...strange I know, (don't judge me harshly by this one) the song copocabana by Barry Manilow...it reminds me of the security of being young, around 4 or 5, I used to play it over and over on my brothers record player and still know every word even though I haven't really heard it in 20 years

What sights, sounds, smells make you smile everytime and really make you know you are alive?

Freshly cut grass, jasmine and cookies baking are some of my favorite smells. I love the sounds of birds early in the morning, although I'm rarely up and outside that early. I love to see small kids playing sports, 10 4ft. girls all converging on a soccer ball or a little boy with a too-big baseball mitt on ducking from a pop fly in the outfield are the sights I associate with summer. I think I'm a fairly "sensual" (not in a sexual sense) person and one sound, sight, or smell can change my whole day. Good question, Chrissy.

Oh, one more thing...chilled skin and chlorine-scented hair from kids right out of a pool!

Fresh cut grass......also, I love the sound at night when the sprinklers are on. It reminds me of my childhood. The kind of sprinklers that go ch....ch.....ch.....ch.....ch.....chchchchchchchchchchchch....ch....ch.....ch.....ch........chchchchchchc
LOL....do you know what kind I mean?

The sound of waves crashing on the shore - my dad used to take us to the beach every single summer, and it's my best childhood memory.

The sound of a pipe organ on a merry-go-round....

The sounds of kids at an amusement park....

Freshly cut grass....

The sound of kids playing on a playground....

The smell of freshly baked bread....

The smell of a baby's head and the softness of a baby's cheek....

The look of adoration your dog gives you when you walk in the door....

The sunrise or sun setting over the ocean....

The smell of salt water in the air....

The feeling of sand between your toes....

You have said it all!

Very descriptive, and refreshing! :)

I guess I could add listening to my rooster cock-a-doodle-doo in the early fresh crisp morning LOL!

For me, its lilacs and apple blossoms. We have several lilac trees (I can't call them bushes, because they're twice as tall as me). When you pass them, it's like walking through perfume. We also have a creek that runs through the back of our property. It has such a fresh, clean smell - and dipping in in the summer is heaven.

All the ocean posts make me jealous, though. I always lived 15 minutes from the beach. Now, who knows where nearest salt water ocean beach is? People up here talk about the beach, and they mean sand and pebbles spread at a lakeside. Not a beach, as far as I'm concerned.

I love lilacs too!

First cool morning of fall.

I also love the sound, feel and smell of leaves in the fall.

The feel of Halloween night.

Church bells.

Baby Animals.

The smell of a baby washed with Baby Magic.

When you first get in a car on a really hot day and the warmth of it kind of makes you feel sleepy and relaxed.

My favorite smell I love gardina's they smell heavenly and my favorite sound would be when my kids say I love you or when the twins wake up in the morning with huge smiles and crawl up in your lap and give hugs.

Just heard one....the ice cream truck going down my street.

Baking bread! I even love going into Subway just to smell the bread. Coffee, pipe tobacco (my dad smoked a pipe for years), rain on the pavement on a warm day...

It's lilacs for me, too. My grandfather had a huge lilac bush. Every Spring he would bring a huge bouquet over to our house. I would walk in the house and the scent would fill the air. The scent of lilacs brings my grandfather back to me every time.
