Help - Not my morning - I need a new vacuum

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2004: Help - Not my morning - I need a new vacuum
By Debbie on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 - 10:46 am:

This morning while using the attachment to my vacuum, the cord got caught underneath the main part and it ripped it to shreads before I could get it turned off Dh is going to kill me. I am going to Target and I want to get a cheap one that works fairly well, until we have the money in our budget to get a good one. I went online at Target and saw a Eureka Whirlwind Litespeed vacuum for just 89.00 that got good reviews. Does anyone have this???

Debbie, you could always replace the cord on the one you have. Sounds like it worked pretty well! lol It's not hard at all to replace the cord. Give it some thought. {{{{{Debbie}}}}}

I've gone through so many vacuums, lol. Currently I have two Dirt Devil Feather Lite (can't remember the cost, but I'm like you, it was probably less than $70) and a Eureka Whirlwind (it was a Christmas gift). I have more trouble with the expensive bagless than the Eureka.

Cat, I should have thought about that! My dog chewed the end of the Eureka, I couldn't bare to get rid of it because of the cost. Dad replaced the end for $3.94.

I also have the Dirt devil FeatherLite bagless and I got it at Target for under $100. It works really well and I love the large dirt compartment. If I had to go buy another vacuum today, that's the one I would get. Marg, you have 3 vacuums?

By Debbie on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 - 11:56 am:

I thought about replacing the cord, but the vacuum was cheap and lately it hasn't been standing upright. The latch that holds it up is broken, so I have to lean it up against the wall or it falls over. We kept saying we were going to get a good one, but every time we have extra money we never want to spend it on that.

I have been wanting the new Bissell lift-off vacuum. Dh called a little while ago and my 3 yr. old told him I broke the vacuum. He said he saw the Bissell I want on sale at Wal-Mart this weekend. He wants me to go get that one. So, I guess it is not such a bad morning after all. I am off to take ds to school and get my new vacuum. Hopefully, it is still on sale.

No, sorry about that Tink, I corrected the post.

My dh called me the vacuum queen. I managed a motel for a while & had Rainbow & Kirby sales people stay with me. At one point I had 11 vacs. I was made to get rid of all but 1. I kept my Kirby, but then I didn't pay full price for it! I also liked the Windtunnel, but I can't remember the price.

The Bissell take-off was on sale, so I got it. It got great reviews on-line and I love the fact that it detaches to vacuum the stairs. I have to go put it together now, so I can finish cleaning the house.
