I got my new computer. Couple of questions?

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice on what to buy. I actually ordered the Dell last Wed and I got it yesterday! Now that was fast. Dh hooked it up last night and I am on it now. Just a couple of more questions. For anyone else that has a Dell do you notice the screen seems to lean forward a bit? The print also seems small and the colors hurt my eyes? Just wondering if there is ways to change this? I will definately use the techinical support if no one here knows. I mean you definately pay for it in the price. One more thing did you use the free Aol for six months. I am using my old dial up right now. But I think the Aol seemed a little faster. I am going to try it again later and see. Thanks again everyone!

I have a dell, my screen moves, so you should be able to just tilt it back, just grab the top of the moniter with both hands and jiggle it side to side pushing upward and it should go. As far as the colors...hmmm go look under my computer, then display and see what you can change there. I know you can change font, but not sure about color. You might need to adjust the contrast or brightness. As for the AOL I did not use it, i already had cable net. I just ordered my second Dell on Sunday, I hope it gets here that quick!

The colors hurt my eyes too. I fussed around with the monitor menu until I figured out how to tone down the colors.

I never used AOL and rather dislike it (my boss uses it).

Now, be sure you have your anti virus program on and also protecting your email. Download Zonealarm's free firewall, the Adaware spyware detector (free) (NOT Ad aware, a totally different program and not a good one), and Spybot, another spyware detector which complements Adaware and is also free. If you go to PC World's download page, at http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,7423,00.asp

you will find Adaware and Spybot. What I do is download Spybot from PC World and then go to the Spybot site http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download
and download the updates for Spybot. This seems to work better for me than trying to download the updates through the actual Spybot program I downloaded.

All three programs are free, and all three provide good protection.

Ginny, we use Adaware and Spybot too! Wouldn't be without them. Spybot caught quite a few things that Adaware didn't.

I agree, Karen - they overlap a bit but one will pick up stuff the other doesn't, and if anything slips by, ZoneAlarm will keep it from reporting back through your internet connection. I think they really assist the virus protection.
