Smells like Easter in my kitchen now

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive April 2004: Smells like Easter in my kitchen now
By Dawnk777 on Saturday, April 10, 2004 - 02:07 am:

Even though the dye has been dumped and the eggs put away in the fridge, it still smells like we were dying eggs in their tonight! So, now it feels more Eastery at my house and I never realized how much vinegar and hard-boiled eggs are smells associated with Easter.

Which reminds me, Sarah wants me to buy some fresh flowers for the fresh flower cross on Easter Sunday. Fresh flowers in church on Sunday (hyacinths, Easter lilies, etc.) are a big part of my Easter experience, too. They always make a wooden cross out of the Christmas tree trunk and wrap it in chicken wire, so we can stick the stems of fresh flowers in it!

I suppose if we ever cooked an Easter meal that the smell of ham cooking would be part of it, too! As it is, I usually end up smelling it at someone else's house or occasionally at a restaurant!

Our old church used to do that too. This is our first Easter at our new church, I will have to find out if they do that. I am going to the store today and was buying flowers for my table, I will pick up some extras.

The kids colored eggs yesterday, and now my frig stinks. Ewww! text description I'm allergic to eggs, and the smell alone makes me nauseous. They sure had fun though!

I'll be cooking a ham for Easter dinner. Yum!

I haven't peeked in my fridge this morning to see if it smells, too! LOL!

We are boiling the eggs as I type :) I hate the smell of hard boiled eggs!

This is going to sound bad, but we arn't doing eggs this year. In our house it is just a big waste of a dozen eggs! noone here likes hard boiled eggs, so what else would we do with them after they are colored but throw them away? My dd was a little sad about not doing eggs. We went to see Home on the Range instead. It was my 3 yr old ds's first time at the theatre. I'm so glad the he did fine, i was worried he would be overwhelmed with the size of the screen, but he was fine. He just sat there and chowed down on his popcorn and watched the movie. So all in all it was a great alternative to coloring eggs.

HAPPY EASTER ALL!

You can blow the egg shells and have an omelet dinner. I hate hard boiled eggs too, but I love omelets and that's what we do here.

We just toss the eggs afterwards, I do two dozen and it's about $2. I only like hard boiled eggs that are made into egg salad, but I am not eating eggs that sit out all night.

We usually color eggs, but not this Easter. My ds's had no interest this year.

My eggs were only $.48/dozen. So, less than a $1.50! They were on sale! Isn't that great? We don't eat them all, either.
