Party planners & cake makers--need some ideas--Please

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2004: Party planners & cake makers--need some ideas--Please
By Yjja123 on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 10:52 am:

My hubby's birthday is coming up. Since we are picking up our boat (his dream come true) a few days prior to his birthday I have decided to have a boat theme.
Does anyone have ideas on how to decorate his cake? Or how to make it a theme party.
Any/all suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks!
Yvonne

It all depends on what you are looking to spend. I would do a water theme based around boating and fishing. EX: bright, tropical colors, like oranges, yellows, and greens. Maybe buy a few strings of tropical fish lights, or hanging lanterns. If you wanted to go a little further, you could hang a fishing net over the table, with various things in it like plastic fish, sand buckets, shovels, glass bottles, etc. Is it going to be all adults or a family thing? Virgin rum runners in plastic margerita glasses? As far as the cake, make it look like the rear end of the boat, with the name written across it. Or make a sailboat shaped cake. I'm going to see if I can find some examples and instructions for you. HTH!!
