Hi , my husband just accepted a job offer in San Antonio and we are going to relocate from New Jersey. I was wondering if any one is from the San Antonio area as I am looking for a good area with good schools. My son will be going to 1st grade next school year. Would you recommend to rent first or buy a house? Any other information will be helpful as I never visited there before. Thanks.

I am not from San Antonio, so cannot answer your questions. But I have visited many times, it is a great city, with mild temperatures. They have a great theme park that is part of the six flags family (fiesta texas). Be prepared to see everything written in Spanish! As far as where to live, this is a big city, you will want to base where to live based on where he will work. In general the nice part of town is north. Max Lucado preaches out of a church there, I bet he has some pictures on a website and you can see some pictures of the north side of town. Have fun!

HI, my name is JULIE and my husband is MARK we have a son who will be 6 this month and a daughter who is 3. i can tell you what you need to know about San Antonio i was born and raised here 31 years. Sorry but Kaye's information is incorrect not everything is in spanish. only when you visit places with the spanish culture or on the east, west and south sides of town.. yes the northside is the better area of san antonio. i live on the northwest side. northside independent school district is the better of the districts. have you looked on the san antonio official website to find any information? my son is at myers elementarty in kindergarten and was just accepted into gifted and talented i think it is a great school! My husband is originally from New Jersey, what part are ya'll from? as far as renting or buying i will have to say that will depend pson you but i will tell you the cost of living is cheaper in S.A. compaired to N.J. when we were in N.J. a few years ago and were looking at houses ( during vacation as something to do) i couldnt believe how much they wanted them for. so i would probable buy cause you can get some good deals.. let me know they have some realistate webites i can send you if you are interested i can also send you some school district websites and san antonio websites.
