Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2004: Have i lost my mind?????

Well, there was a couple that was moving and we have been looking for a cat for my daughter for her birthday. Well they had 2 cats and a dog. We called and they said that the dog was already taken and they don't have a problem separating the cats. So we went by while my daughter was in dance class and well.......the other people decided not to take the dog, he was a little bigger than they wanted, He is an english sheepdog. Well now we have 2 cats and a dog plus the 2 guinea pigs we already had! We just could not bare to separate them, they all have been together since they were small!!! My house is crazy now. I can't complain too much, I LOVE animals!! And its better then going to a shelter! Someone remind me I did a good thing, lol!!

You did a g:):)d thing. That was very nice of you to do that because, like you said, those animals grew up together, and anyone else might have seperated them and then they would have been depressed. You are keeping them happy:)!!!

You did a good thing. Those animals would have all missed each other!

You did a GREAT thing!
It burns me that people get rid of animals when they move. Do you leave your family behind? No! So why leave animals?
My animals (as I am sure yours are too) are part of our family.
OK enough of my venting---sorry I worked at the ASPCA for many years.
Congrats on your new addition(s) to your family!

That is awesome!!!! You may have just saved their lives :) I'm sure your daughter is very happy as well.

You did a great thing - and English sheepdogs are great pets, loving, gentle, and protective. (And, as you already know, they shed - a lot!).

Oh, and yes - you've lost your mind. It goes with being a parent.

Our older dog's "boyfriend" is a sheepdog and he is the sweetest thing!
Sometimes people don't have a choice in giving away their pets when they move..especially if it's a foreign country. These same friends had to quarrantine their dog at great personal expense when they moved from the US to UK. It sounds like these people were really trying to make sure their pets went to good homes.
Congrats!

Thanks sooo much everyone. It helped to hear all that! They really are wonderful animals, so well behaved and sweet, event he cats. I have always loved animals. The dog (barney) is very well behaved too and he plays so nicely with our 18 month old. Our first night together was great!

That's good to hear, Kenna!

Thats so nice:) I am a animal lover but DH and DS are allergic to cats, dogs, just about any animal with fur. So no pets for us only a beta:)
We did the bird thing, and that was so messy. The bird died so no more of them.
My Aunt had a english sheepdog and he was the sweetest thing ever. Good Luck!
