Just went shopping for new clothes :)

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2004: Just went shopping for new clothes :)
By Dana on Wednesday, March 24, 2004 - 07:38 pm:

After loosing enough weight for my size 12 to be too big, I finally felt safe about not gaining it back. I went shopping today for new clothes.

Once I finally found a store that offered more colors than black, brown, and burgandy I started looking. The size 8's looked pretty big, so I loaded up on them. The sales clerk took them and started my pile in the dressing room. AFter I got to the room, I told her "I have no idea if an 8 will fit. I've lost weight and haven't bought clothes in 6 years." She was happy for me, and said it would be no problem to swap them to a 10 if I needed.

WELL, GUESS WHAT! That first size 8 fit! And so did the second. But the 3rd one did not :(.....it was TOO BIG! :) :) So after having all 8's I had to go and get all 6's! And they ALL FIT!!!!! :) One was even a four.

Instead of 2-3 outfits, I ended up w/, gosh, I don't even know how many. 4 dresses, 2 capri sets, one capri pant only, 2 shorts, 1 skirt, 6 shirts that match the capris, shorts and skirt. Then I needed all new shoes cause I only own one pair of ugly running shoes. So I know have 4 new pairs of shoes too! Even my shoe size went down!

Oh, and I bought 10 pair of bikini panties too!

I am on cloud nine! I thought I was going to wear a 10, and I am fitting a 6! I look like my old self again. Amazing how different you look when you are not wearing those same old 12 jeans even though you lost weight. :)

Brandy, that is SO good! Good for you fitting the next size down!!!! I can't even tell you how happy I am with my new clothes, so I know how good you are feeling too!

I've been working on this with full heart since last October. Exercise routine and since Jan, put the entire family on a calorie diet. We eat more food now than we did before the diet. Only difference is our portion size and choosing lower fat content items in some cases. Luckily we still do real butter. I couldn't live without that. I must say, it wasn't until I started watching my food intake that my weight started to come off. I was loosing 1 pound a week. Now I am on maintenance and eat just a tad more freely.

Congratulations! It feels great to buy new clothes, especially if your goal is a smaller size! I have found recently that if you get jeans with 2% lycra (stretch jeans), you need the next smaller size. GAP size 6 long jeans fit me well, but when I started getting their stretch jeans, I had to go to a 4 long.

Don't you love having new shoes to go along with your new clothes???

By Babysitbarb on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 09:27 am:

Congrats to you. My DD lost 40 pounds over a 1 1/2 year time period and she also has gone to a smaller shoe. People don't believe us when we tell them that. They say oh you don't lose weight in your feet but, she has. She was even wearing wides before and is able to wear nomal sizes now.My youngest has gone through a big growing spurt and also has slimmed down a lot. The oldest went from a woman's 16 down to a 5. The youngest went from a woman's 16 down to almost a 12. Me I just seem like Im gaining Im a 16 and I use to always be a 5-7.
