Moderate Priced Disney area hotel recommendations

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2004: Moderate Priced Disney area hotel recommendations

Do you have a good hotel recommendation for outside Disney? We are going to Florida in June, and would like to go to Disney just for one day. (Also Sea World one day.) We'll be staying just 3 nights in Orlando. So, something with a shuttle bus to Disney would be great too.

Thanks.:)

Eve, have you surfed Expedia.com? You can get info and quotes for hotels near Disney.

Eve, I have heard great things about Holiday Inn Family Suites. http://www.hifamilysuites.com In June, it is about 150.00 a night. I don't know if you want to spend this much. But one thing to consider is that it has a kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator, which would be nice with Sydney. It also has a seperate king bedroom and then a semi-private kids room. I think it comes with free full breakfast too. It is recommended all the time on one of the Disney websites. They also have a free shuttle to Disney.

Holiday Inn Family Suites is really nice, we stayed there last summer and we all loved it.

If you are looking for reasonably priced hotels while you are visiting Disney World, I would suggest some of the on-site resorts at Disney World. The All-Star resorts and Pop Century are usually priced around 99$ a night.

We haven't stayed here yet but we plan to in Nov. It is Residence Inn LBV by Marriott. Their prices are always reasonable and breakfast is included. Also you can choose a suite or 1 or even 2 bedroom. We almost always stay at Residence Inns when we travel and when we have had a problem, Marriott has been very quick to resolve it. By the way, this hotel is pretty new so you won't have to worry about it needed updating.

Our second favorite chain is Embassy Suites. Again they have a free breakfast and the rooms are Suites (two rooms) and they have a refrigerator and microwave. We have also had very good luck with their customer service

Check tripadvisor for reviews of both. I just checked RI LBV reviews yesterday getting ready for our upcoming trip and they were very good.

Thanks, I forgot about trip advisor!:)

Trina, yes, I have surfed a zillion sites, but it's so hard to tell if they are really as nice as they say.

Thanks for the recommendations. I like to stay where someone has stayed before and enjoyed. I'll check into the places that you listed.

We were at the Holiday Inn Family Suites in January. It was a very nice place for kids and really very close to the disney parks. I would stay there again.

If you haven't already, ask over there and I'm sure you'll get some responses. :)

I don't know what you consider moderately priced, but my suggestions would be if you are only doing 1 day at MK stay on site and plan for it to coincide with the early entry day at MK that way you get in the park an hour to an hour and a half before the big crowds and you can do all of fantasy land (your prime target with a child your dd's age) with no waits. This is what we have always done so by 10:00 when the park is getting crowded we have already done Dumbo, Pooh's ride small world etc. I think with codes found on Mouse Savers you could stay at a WDW resort for between 89 and 129 a night. It is so worth paying a bit more for early entry.
Also the Grosnover (? spelling) in downtown disney is suposed to be quite affordable and is considered a disney resort so you get early entry, check on that but I'm almost positive. I'll look up Mousesavers for you and post it.

Who knew it was that easy!

Thanks, everyone for your suggestions.:)

Melissa, thanks for the link. I was checking it out earlier. They do have some good deals on the Disney Resorts. I think when we stay longer at Disney in the future, we'll be sure to try a Resort.

We actually stayed at the Grosvenor for our Honeymoon. It was a great location, great pool, good food, beautiful lobby, nice store for snacks and movie rentals, nice gift shop, not the best rooms--a little bit run down. GREAT if you are on a budget though. TravelZoo has it for $59/night!

We decided to book a Downtown Disney hotel again. I booked the Royal Plaza for 3 nights. I got a great deal through Mousavers. ($100 less than Hotels.com) Thanks!:)

Eve, the Royal Plaza is AWESOME! I was there the summer of 1999.

Eve, I found some weird coincidences with our weddings. Please don't think I'm some freak(I'm really not). I checked out some of your pictures on your website.

1. Our invitations were exactly the same.
2. DH and I got married on Aug. 9th.
3. Our dresses were VERY similar.
4. DH and I went to Disney World on our Honeymoon.

I just thought this was funny and wanted to share.

By Eve on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - 10:31 am:

Nikki-That's so funny! Ok, now you have to email me some photos!:)

By Kolbysmom on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - 10:40 am:

LOL I promise I will. It will probably be next week though. I'm waiting on our new computer to get here. This one would probably blow up! Just out of curiosity, what were your colors? Ours were Lavender and Silver.

By Eve on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - 11:50 am:

Ok, our colors were the same! LOL! Freaky!:)
