Who owns one of those hand held steam cleaners I sometimes see advertised on t.v?

They are always steaming baked on oven grease and dirty bathtubs....

I would love to know if they really work/whether you would reccomend them to anyone/were they expensive? etc..

After all the talk a while back about the Eureka Envirosteamer, I decided to get one. I got the one that does floors and also has all the attachments. This is by far my favorite cleaning tool!! The best thing I use if for is on my boy's toilet. They are not the best aimers, if you KWIM. LOL. I blast the steam all around the bast of the toilet and get every ounce of stray pee cleaned up. (Ewww! LOL). I do use it to clean my stove top and I use it to clean my cabinet doors. All the grime in the corners just comes right off.

I bought mine through Costco.com. It was around $100. It was so very worth it.

This may be a silly question, Melanie, but after you steam the area to be cleaned do you still need to wipe it up? I would think there is some wiping involved. Just curious.

I own (and love) the Envirosteamer hand held model.
You have to wipe up the grime. It basically liquifys or melts it making it easy to wipe away.
I use it on everything. It cleans our grill, the shower doors, faucets, etc... I have not used to on my regular oven (self cleaning oven) but am sure it would be great for that too.
I think it is worth the money especially since it uses water--you no longer need to buy cleaning solutions.

Thanks Yvonne. I thought there would be some wiping, makes sense anyway. Good to know it makes it easier to wipe up. The Envirosteamer is the one I thought about getting. I just may have to go and buy it then. Thank you.

And doesn't the steam kill bacteria as well? Could you use it on grimy gross shower curtains and it would liquify that horrible gunk?

What about the tiles in my bathtub? They get kind of a hard water buildup on them..and I have to scrub them with comet.....

And doesnt it steam clothes as well?

One more question...can you steam clean your carpet or uphostery? I guess that is a dumb question. It doesn't have a suction right?

I would love to talk dh into buying one! They sound so cool...

Yes--steam kills bacteria
Worked wonders on both my tile and my grout
Yes--steams clothing
The hand held does NOT clean uphostery or carpet--way too hot would likely damage them
My favorite part was cleaning behind the faucet---that tiny spot between the faucet and sink where all the grime seems to collect. The steamer blasted it out in seconds. No more cleaning with a toothbrush.
