Gazelle elite?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2004: Gazelle elite?
By Truestori on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 11:25 am:

I am just curious if anyone has purchased one and used it with success. I injured my knee and am having a really hard time with regular excersise but I read this is really low impact. It is quite pricey so I am wondering if I would really see much improvement?
TIA

That's what I use or something similar. I bought one from QVC after my knee surgery. It costs $129 and I paid for it over four months with their easy pay.

I really like it accept when my joints ache, nothing helps:(

I haven't messed around with our new computer enough to know about pictures, now I know a little more, lol!

this is what it looks like. It is heavy, but it does fold to go under your bed, if your bed is high enough.

Like Sue said about her friend, I do love it! There is no impact on my knees, which my dr. was worried about.

By Marg on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 12:05 pm:

Was your knee operated on Stori? I couldn't exercise with my knee for over 9 months. It took the longest time for the swelling and pain to go away and then I had severe numbness around my knee area. It bothered the heck out of me.

By Truestori on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 12:26 pm:

Marg & Sue,

You guys are great. I love to hear testimonials form Momsview moms..lol

I haven't had my knee operated on but it has been swollen for over 2 months. It is finally starting to heal and I need to get mov'in. I can't walk the hills anymore so I need something I can do at home. I am so reluctant to buy anything becuase I want to make sure I will really use it...UUGGHH
How big is the machine? How much room do you need? Have you seen results?

By Truestori on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 12:27 pm:

Sue,

I forgot to ask what model your friend has? LOL :)

By Sue3 on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 12:42 pm:

Truestori,
I am not sure what model she has but I assume that it is an older one because she bought it at a moving sale this past summer.
I will be talking to her soon and I will find out.
What a bummer about your knee !
I wondered why I haven`t heard from you about excersising and such.
I hope it heals fast!
You take care !
Sue

The machine is as tall as me, 5'5". It is heavy. I mostly keep it in the bedroom where I can slide it under my bed.

What's wrong with your knee.

I use to run all the time:( I don't think I'll ever be able to again. In fact, I'll probably need knee replacement in the next 10 years. I pray my knees get stronger. I also take Osteo Bi-Flex triple strength. This has made a huge difference in my knees! They are costly, but they have made such a difference that I can feel!

By Truestori on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 11:36 pm:

Marg,

So sorry to hear about your knees. I can relate, although I don't need replacements quite yet. I noticed that the machine you have is made by the same company as the Gazelle. Does this come with any resistance? if so how does it work? It is much cheaper and looks pretty nice. Have you lost any weight while on it? I really want something that will slim me down..:)

By Marg on Thursday, March 11, 2004 - 07:41 am:

No, it has no resistance.

I thought about that after I purchased it;) That's basically why it is cheaper. It has everything listed on above. Dh wasn't happy when he read no resistance. But to us it really doesn't matter. It is a really nice machine, for low impact (on joints) exercise.

However, when I got it, I could barely stay on it 2 minutes! Not kidding. The video gives several different workouts and they aren't easy.

I can tell the difference in my legs, butt and stomach. The upper exercises are difficult for me and I should do them but I don't. I didn't exercise much this winter, I fell and then had that joint in my tailbone inflamed. I was just allowed to start exercising on March 1, and to be honest, I've been so busy I haven't really started back:(

But I do plan to within the next week or two.

I like it and I was happy with the price and the quality of the equipment. I believe QVC gives a 30 day money back guarantee on this product. If you never bought anything from them before, go to their website, QVC.com. I posted the item number and like I said you can pay for it in I believe 4 monthly installments.

It comes basically put together. You have to lock the foot pedals (what else would you call them) into place. It's a big box and heavy!

Good luck
