Did i do something wrong

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2004: Did i do something wrong
By Wandilu on Friday, March 5, 2004 - 12:50 pm:

a month or so ago i posted that i had found a good work at home job that i wanted to share .i didn't go into any detail, because i didn't want to go against any guideline rules.i even stated that in my post.so i put my e-mail addr in the post so if anyone was interested they could e-mail me.it stayed posted for about a day,and then it was removed.so i fiquered that i had done something wrong, even though there had been another posting previously talking about the same subject.now i see that there was another posting on this subject on mar.3,and she got alot of responses.i'm confused, what did i do wrong that made my post be removed from the board?i apologise for what i might have done wrong,i just need to know what it was.

I'm not sure you'd have to ask administation, but when you register, it states this...

BUSINESS MARKETING AND WEBSITE PROMOTION ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED:
This applies to marketing/promotion of your own business or website, as well as for someone else, on the boards. Exception: You may briefly mention same in direct response to a request by another user at one of our boards. As well, Momsview.com relies on income produced from linking to various free offers around the internet. Therefore, we ask that you DO NOT POST LINKS TO OTHER FREE RESOURCE LINK SITES, as this would obviously be promoting our competitors and would hurt our interests. Links to the direct URL of a particular free offer, however, are acceptable"

I think the post you are speaking of is post regarding earnings and how to educate oneself into a career, as bubbels is a medical transcriptionist and she was stating how to be educated in that area. She was not promoting or trying to selling a business.

I'm trying to put this the nicest way I can, sorry I'm not doing a good job....

i sort of understand.but a lady replied back to a previous post that she does mary kay and said that would be a good home business.wouldn't that be the same? not trying to be troublesome, just curious.

I believe this is the exact line that may be what is the problem.

I think it's OK to say what you do for a job. But, I don't think that it's OK to try to sell yourself or your business on the board. Does that make sense? Like, you can say that you do "X" for a job and you really like it. But, you can't say "I do "X" for a job and if your interested in getting involved e-mail me or check out my website". That is considered marketing your business.
Sometimes the rules are confusing! I wouldn't take offense to it. It's just part of the rules :) Glad you are still posting!!

Hi Wanda, I went back and reviewed the post to which you are referring.

By Wandilu on Friday, February 13, 2004 - 02:34 pm:

a few months ago,i posted that i was looking for a good home-based business.a few others posted that they were looking for one too.if anyone is still interested, you can e-mail me at my new e-mail addr which is XXXXXXXX or check our website at XXXXXXXXX

Even though you mentioned that others had posted looking for a good home-based business, your post was not in "direct response" to a poster in a specific thread requesting such information. You also provided a link to your own personal website that contained such information, which we regard as solicitation and marketing/promotion of your own personal website.

We hope that you understand our reasoning. However, if you have further questions, please directly contact one of the Momsview moderators. On the left side of the screen under Utilities, you will find a link to "Contact" the moderators. We would be more than happy to resolve any issues that you may have.

For future reference, if you have any questions regarding actions taken by the Momsview moderators, please refrain from posting your concerns. Instead, we ask that you contact the moderators directly.
