Way to happy:)

Our township finally approved a supersized Walmart and complex (stores) along with a Lowes about 5 miles away from our house. It's off the mountain, but I am way to happy. Instead of traveling 25 minutes, it will take me 5:)

This is a township with a small Kmart, Food Lion and a Martins. They are in the process of approving over 1,200 new house in several new developments of the next few years. We have no shopping to support these people that live here or that are going to build here. I'm just way too happy.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that one of the smaller stores is an A C Moore;)

That is good news.
I LOVE Walmart!

Oh Marg, I am jealous!! I live in an area where the city will not allow those big stores to move in. I haven't been to a Wal-Mart in years!! Our closest Target is a 40 minute drive and the nearest Home Depot is almost an hour away, so I completely understand your enthusiasm. I'd be way too happy if I was you, too! :)

Yay!!!!!! You will love it! We only had a K-mart and a grocery store FOREVER. Now we finally have a Wal-mart superstore and it is just great. Before that we had to drive over an hour to get to Wal-mart. Wal-mart has been trying to get in here for quite a few years but was always denied. But finally they let them come in!

BTW....when I say "we" got a Wal-mart I mean the next town over. My little town will never see a Wal-mart LOL

Melanie, is your town an actual city? It sounds like our township, lol! The business in our township (meaning retail) has been spiraling downward for years, the supervisors act like they could care less! Sorry, another touchy subject. But I don't understand how these supervisors can let people keep building with nothing to support it!

This really blows my mind Melanie! Is your closest story Target or do you have anything closer. It's just sad!

I can't wait for ours to come, they said fall 2005 at the latest, probably for Christmas.

What scares me is there is no competitive shopping will this affect the prices at Walmart?

I live between 2 Walmart Super Centers (1 1/2 mile away on one side and 4 on the other). They are always packed and you always spend more money than you planned but I can't imagine not having one.

I think congratulations are in order!

I live in an unincorporated part of a city. It's a mountain community. But the city itself is very pro small, independent businesses and the community does all it can to keep out large businesses. I am actually just south of Silicon Valley! :) There is a KMart in the town next to us (only about 20 minutes from me) but I hate it. Every time I go there for something specific, they don't have it! Drives me crazy. I would love to see it close down and have a Wal-Mart move in instead. So I am very jealous of you and can totally understand your enthusiasm! :)

Marg, I can't believe they finally approved it. I felt for sure that the township would "squash" the idea. HAve they released a time line for when it will be completed yet?

I couldn't believe it either Amanda, they approved most of the new housing developments, what I believe between 1200-1500 new homes! The schools are bursting at the seems right now and what will it be like with all these new homes? How in the world will the school be able to financially expand besides our r/e taxes going through the roof, so I'm finally glad the supervisors are seeing the light;)

I live about a mile from Walmart and Shopko. A few years ago we got Home Depot about 3 miles away and JUST got a Target! It just opened up. Our other Targets were each about 35 miles away, so it's nice to have another option besides Walmart.

There is a Super Walmart about 10 miles away, but we never shop there. With a regular Walmart a mile away and the grocery store about 3 blocks away, I'm just not motivated to drive 20 miles to go to Super Walmart!
