Scratches on Wood and Laminate flooring

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2004: Scratches on Wood and Laminate flooring

What do you use on scratches on wood and laminate floor? We put the laminate down a few weeks ago and there are a couple of faint scratches that dh is freaking out over. lol A friend of mine also has real wood in her kitchen of the brand new house she just moved into two months ago that is all scratched up already. I know for ours it said to just use a damp cloth to clean, and that does a great job, but I'm looking for something to cover the scratches and condition the floor, and won't create a buildup. TIA

I'm not sure you can do anything for a scratch or dent for laminate. (Wood, you can use wood filler) You should be able to replace a piece, if it's that bad. We bought an extra box for that very reason. Good luck! I hope someone else can help you.

You can buy wood flooring "magic markers" at most paint stores or home improvement places. They come in different shades. We have one by
Guardsmen; Touch-Up Pen. It works amazingly well!

I just bought some wood filler today for our Laminate Floor. I was at the floor dealer and told him about a scratch we had and he told me to use it. I haven't tried it yet but when I do I will let you know.

We use baby oil on a q-tip.

If the wood floors are really scratched you can have a wood floor installer come in and they will sand and refinish the existing wood.

To clean your floor use Windex sprayed on the floor, and mopped with an almost dry sponge mop. It is much cheaper than the product-name cleaners, and leaves the floor clean and shining. Scratches fade with wear.

Try looking in google for scratch removal laminate

Thanx, everyone. I'll have to try some of these suggestions. Can't have dh freaking out every time someone drags something across the floor! lol :)

I put some siding things on all my furniture. I don't like scratches either.

I buy it at bed and bath and beyond store. I am putting them on my dining room furniture because I am seeing scratches.

They are plastic and they stick on with self adhesive.

Thanx, Feona. We do have the plastic, felt covered pads on all the stuff that goes in the kitchen (even put felt on the bottom of our plastic trash can! lol). They help a lot. Although, the bar stool in the kitchen REALLY slides now! The kids love it! rofl
