Battling with Allergies.....

I posted this on the lets get fit topic and I thought I would share with whoever battles with Allergies. Anyways my dh had terrible allergies, too pollen and stuff. He would get the itchy eyes runny nose irritable kind of thing. Since he started eating honey on a regular basis, his allergies are pretty much gone. We buy the unpasteurized honey. It has all the natural vitamins, amino acids and enzymes that are built into honey. He eats it everyday and if not he puts it into his coffee every day. I'm wondering if anyone else has experience honey to be good for allergies. If you suffer from pollen etc...I would give honey a try. Bye for now. :)

What does the honey do? I have terrible hay fever and since I got pregnant with ds, I have become allergic to cats and dogs. I hate it!

My aunt swears by nettle supplements. She had bad hay fever and started taking nettle in the winter and that year she had no hay fever. But it only worked for about 3 years. Now she takes a prescription medication for it.

I would love to find a natural cheap way to control my hay fever. I tried homeopathic stuff for 2 summers, but didn't find much of a change...

Fiona, I hear that Bee pollen is helpful for people with allergies, although I don't think honey has all that much bee pollen in it. It's helpful for people with allergies because it strengthens the immune system. Nettle is supposed to be good for hay fever and other allergies. I think over time with natural herbs you have to stop taking the product for a period of time or else it will stop working...now this is what I've heard I'm certainly no expert. It's possible if your aunt started taking Nettle (stinging nettle) again now, it may work for her once again? I'm going to take an evening class to learn a little more about herbs etc....It interests me greatly. I am also considering a homeopathic doctor. I hear great things and have seen wonders in children with ADHD, etc...Usually alot of "common" ailments (problems) with children and adults are usually allergy related. Alot of the time it is what we are eating that is making us ill. Ps. what did you think of the homeopathic doctor you went to see?

It has to be local honey. The thought is it is made from flowers from the area and you are taking in small doses of that, thus helping your immune system. Each time we move we find a local beekeeper and get some for my son, it does really seem to help him.
