My update...

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive February 2004: My update...
By Jackie on Saturday, February 28, 2004 - 06:27 pm:

I have been posting an update on the Prayer board. But, I realize not everybody reads over there.
Anyways, Im currently 15 weeks pregnant. I had a 4th miscarriage the first part of Novemeber which was a blighted ovum(Where sac develops, no baby). I had a dnc on Nov 7th. At my 2 week checkup the dr(the specialist who is an RE)said normally she tells her patients to wait 3 months before trying again, but due to my age, she said we could try in 2 months. Then she said with my age that I probably wouldnt get pregnant the first month anyways. Ok, 5 weeks exactly from the date of my dnc, I received a postive home pregnancy test. I went and had several bloodtests, and indeed I was pregnant again.. So much for my age and not being able to get pregnant so quickly :)
Ive had 6 ultrasounds to date, and all looks well so far..I still have several friends in the area who do not even know Im pregnant. Im so scared to tell people still, in fear that if something bad happens I will have to retell the same sad story.
I have made it past my longest miscarriage which is 13 weeks. I currently take 2 shots of Heparin a day, as well as one baby aspirin. I rented one of those home dopplers from the internet, and have had it for 5 days now. I always said I would never rent one as Im so obsessive. BUT, its been truley a lifesaver for me. I rented one with a digital readout so I know for sure when I hear the babys heartbeat and not mine. I listen probably about 3 times a day. It gives me a sense of relief knowing that my baby is alive. On March 16th, I have a big appointment with a genetics counselor and will have a detailed ultrasound. My ob thinks its important for me and my husband to go there and talk with them about the "what ifs" mainly due to my age and my miscarriage history.
So right now I sit at 15 weeks pregnant, and thank God each and every day for blessing me with another pregnancy, and hoping this one will go the distance...

I've been praying for you, Jackie, and I'm so glad you're doing so well. I think it was a great idea to rent the doppler! How comforting! Fifteen weeks is really far along! Please update as often as you are comfortable doing so. I'm really so happy for you!

Still praying for you. I loved listening to my babies' heartbeats when I went to the doctor. If i had had a doppler at home, I'm sure I would have listened a couple times a day, too! One time I got lost in listening to the baby's heartbeat and never realized the nurse was done listening. She just kind of waited for me to notice! She just have thought I was a nutcase!
