A Perfect Day

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive February 2004: A Perfect Day
By Fionadeassis on Sunday, February 22, 2004 - 02:10 pm:

Yesterday(Saturday) was one of the most perfect days I ever had!

I cashed in my christmas present from dh(a day at the spa)yesterday. One hour massage, mimi facial, manicure, pedicure, and lunch(homemade pasta). My dad picked up ds for the day and night. When I got home in the late afternoon, dh had looked at the house I am interested in buying. My uncle(also our real estate agent) showed up to prepare a bid for the house. It looks like it is ours!!!!!(this will be our first home!)....we thought this would never happen!! There is a bit of haggling going on over the price.....but the house is about ten thousand less than what we planned on spending so we will be so happy with whatever price we end up paying. The house is MASSIVE !!!!!!!! It's an old house built in the 60s. The same family has owned it since it was new. They haven't decorated it since they moved in, so it is total 60s.....there is carpeting in all the bathrooms!!!!! It needs tons of redecorating, but no renovating. Everything is so clean and in perfect condition! It's over 1600 square feet! (right now we are cramped into a very tiny house built right after the war)....

A few magic prayers from you ladies might be appreciated, but really, I know the house is ours(it's been on the market for 6 months)....I am so excited, I could hardly sleep last night.

The only kind of bad part is we cant't move in till the end of May.Our baby is due sometime in late June, so it is going to be a little stressful and busy!

Oh,and after doing the bid with my uncle, we went out for dinner to the most expensive and delicious restaurant in Calgary(my sister gave me a one hundred dollar gift certificate)...it was so good.

It's 12:00 noon here on sunday afternoon, and my ds is still with my parents. They told us to just relax and they will bring him home when they feel like it! It's almost like not having a kid(sleeping late, on the computer with a cupof tea, reading the paper etc.....no cartoons on tv..)

I think I have said enough...A Perfect Day!

What more could you ask for in the next while eh? new baby, homeowner....you must be super super excited. Yes I would say that was a perfect day too. As soon as you find out about the house let us know.

My uncle came by last night for us to sign the papers. The house is ours unless something comes up(like our mortgage not going through)...

The house was for sale for 199....we got it for 194! Most of the houses we looked at were 207 and way smaller. So I think we got a good deal. The home inspection is on Wed. Hopefully everything is ok.

Good luck with the home inspection! I hope everything goes smoothly and with no trouble. That is so exciting. I know how you feel moving into a house right before the baby is born, btw. We built our house 3 years ago, we moved in and 1 week later our son was born! We also had a 18 month old already, so yes it was a busy but very exciting time for us.

The day at a spa sounds like a dream to me! It sounds like you had a great weekend! :)
